Pittsburgh’s dining scene is constantly evolving, and a brand new crop of restaurants and shops, offering everything from smashed burgers, critic-recommended soup dumplings, and shelves of non-alcoholic beverage options, are now open.
From neighborhood gems to buzzy newcomers, here’s where to eat in Pittsburgh right now.

Nan Xiang Xiao Long Bao
Michelin-recommended soup dumpling restaurant Nan Xiang Xiao Long Bao has expanded its footprint on the East Coast (locations include in New York, New Jersey, Maryland and Delaware) by opening at 2773 Sidney Street in the South Side Flats in early March.
In addition to the restaurant’s famous soup dumplings, the menu also includes Dim Sum, and Southern Chinese comfort food, like stir-fry rice cakes, noodles, scallion pancakes, and ube red bean Bao. The Pittsburgh location will serve nine varieties of soup dumplings, including Pork, Chicken, Gourd Luffa (a type of dumpling filled with grated luffa gourd, a spongey vegetable with a mild flavor), Shrimp & Pork, and Sea Cucumber & Pork.

Burghers Brewing
It’s been almost two years since Burgers Brewing announced that they would be opening a flagship location in Millvale, and the space is finally open.
The new brewery is located at 400 Grant Avenue (in the former PNC Bank location), and boasts two floors and two bars, serving Burghers brews. The menu features their wildly-popular burgers named after Pittsburgh neighborhoods, like the South Side (with cream cheese, tomato, and fresh jalapeños), and (my favorite), the Strip, with blue cheese, bacon, mixed greens and ranch dressing. You’ll also find fried chicken sandwiches, fries, and small plates.
The new Millvale location joins Burghers Brewing locations in Zelienople, Lawrenceville, and Southside.

Open Road
While it’s not technically a new to Pittsburgh, Open Road is officially now open in their brand-new home in Garfield, after having locations in Allentown and Lawrenceville.
The bottle shop, known as the country’s oldest non-alcoholic specialty retailer (they first launched in January 2020), Open Road offers dozens of options for those who aren’t imbibing, including NA beers, canned mocktails, bubbles, sparkling waters, teas, ciders and more. They also have a selection of bitters, syrups and mixers to give your favorite NA drink a boost.
Open Road is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Sunday and Monday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m

Shibam Coffee Co.
Located in Oakland, Shibam Coffee Co. a Yemeni shop opened just last week, and has already been garnering rave reviews online. The small chain, which also has locations in Michigan, Ohio, Texas and Arizona, is locateD AT 4330 Centre Avenue, and offers a full coffee bar, with specialties including pistachio lattes, Sanaai (medium roast Yemeni coffee and cardamom), organic teas, and baked goods and sweets, including the popular Dubai chocolate bars.

Bae Bae’s
We were so sad when downtown’s Bae Bae’s Kitchen announced that they were closing their doors earlier this year… and then really happy to hear that they had changed course, and were launching a new late-night bar and supper club. The Bar at Bae Bae’s is open Wednesday through Saturday from 8:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. (!!!), and offers an eclectic menu of small plates (handmade dumplings, wonton soup, Korean wings, Baby Back ribs with Gochujang, lasagna) salads, hand rolls, and larger options, including Bulgogi sliders, Pad Krapow Gai, and Kimchi cheesesteak. The specialty cocktails at the bar are especially potent (don’t miss the Passion Fruit Mojito).

Pitts-Burgers
Newly-opened in Bethel Park, Pitts-Burgers (love that name!) offers a huge selection of burgers, hot dogs and milk shakes. On the menu, look for options like The Yinzer BBQ (with BBQ sauce, bacon, onion rings and cheese), and the six-patty Mighty Mick burger, served with one pound of fries and unlimited fountain drinks (it’s $25, but if you finish the meal by yourself, you’ve earned a free tee-shirt).
Other menu items include a crispy chicken sandwich, Italian beef, and a kielbasa sandwich topped with a fried egg and banana peppers.
