Congratulations to Fet-Fisk, which was just named one of the 50 best restaurants by the New York Times.
The Nordic-influenced restaurant famously launched back in 2019 as a pop-up, selling out communal dinners across the city. Earlier this year, co-founders Nik Forsberg and Sarah LaPonte have opened Fet-Fisk in Bloomfield, to rave reviews (and with the addition of co-chef Csilla Thackray, a mainstay in Pittsburgh’s dining scene, who previously headed up the kitchen at Churchview Farm).
Fosberg was also nominated for a James Beard Award in 2023.
In the list, New York Times’ writer Priya Krishna notes that Fet-Fisk is “the restaurant equivalent of a cozy sweater,” and makes mention of its lived-in vibes, while praising the comfortable and unfussy menu, and highlighting the unique balance of delicate dishes (thin-sliced scallops and pickled strawberries), and heartier dishes, like their standout roast half chicken, served with lingonberries and fresh cheese.
Fet-Fisk was the only Pittsburgh restaurant named on the list, but if you’re willing to travel a bit, you can also try Ammoora in Baltimore, Penny in New York City, The Aperture in Cincinnati, or Little Walter’s in Philadelphia.
