Pittsburgh has been buzzing ever since the upscale East Liberty eatery, The Twisted Frenchman, moved around the corner from its original location on Highland Avenue.
The Twisted Frenchman had occupied the space since they opened two years ago. The restaurant is now located on Baum Boulevard in the former Royal York Auction Gallery.
Both floors of the auction gallery were completely renovated and transformed into two separate restaurants (with two separate kitchens).
This August, the more casual Bar Frenchman opened on the ground floor. The space offers diners the same delicious and innovative cuisine as The Twisted Frenchman, but in a less formal setting (while still remaining elegant).
Dishes on the menu include escargot, ratatouille, coq au vin, as well as steak and seafood menus.
As the name would suggest, Bar Frenchman also offers world-class cocktail menu, spearheaded by local drink legend Greta Harmon.
The impeccably-designed space is tasting menu only. Features include a private, 21-course chef-tasting menu for two (located in the kitchen), blue slate walls, and the same dining chairs as Alinea in Chicago.
For the month of October, The Twisted Frenchman is offering three and eight course tasting menus. Eventually, the space plans to offer three, eight and 14 course options, and each menu has an optional wine pairing.
