Exciting pizza news! Pittsburgh’s popular mobile pizzeria, Driftwood Oven, has found a permanent home in Lawrenceville.
The team behind the pies is currently finishing up their final week of nomadic pizza-making before packing up for the winter, and focusing on renovating their new space.
The Driftwood Oven brick and mortar will be located on the 3600 block of Butler Street in Lawrenceville. The company began in 2015 by Neil Blazin and Justin Vetter, who first met at Legume Bistro in Oakland where they worked in the front of the house.
In June 2015, the duo teamed up and hit the streets with the goal of serving the best pizza they could.
“Since the beginning I have focused on producing the best type of naturally-leven pizza I can make,” says Neil Blazin. “We use organic and local produce as much as we can. We want to give people good food.”
Driftwood Oven operates from a mobile setup with a woodfired oven, dough boxes, and a few tables. The pizza quickly developed a cult following around the city. Although their varieties change often, Driftwood is well known for their “Major Tom,” and “Archer” pizzas.
The company is also known for producing other naturally-leavened baked goods, and has operated a bread share in the past.
For now, Driftwood is planning to opening their doors to their Lawrenceville location in 2018. Don’t miss Driftwood at Roundabout Brewing this Sunday, or Grist House this Wednesday, as it will be the last chance to grab a slice of this pizza before a long (but exciting) pause for the company.
The new Driftwood Oven shop will be located at 3615 Butler Street.
