Despite Name Change, a New Brewery in Homestead is Moving Forward With 2018 Opening

December 20, 2017 by Madeline Quigley Leave a Comment

A new brewery located in the former Levine Brothers Hardware Store in Homestead is moving forward with a planned opening in mid-2018.

The brewery was first reported by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in March 2017. At the time, the project was to be named “Trios Brewing Company,” and would feature a Spanish tapas menu. In recent weeks some progress has been made, say the brewery owners, as well as a few setbacks.

Due to a trademark issue with U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the brewery can no longer call themselves Trios Brewing Company. The duo behind the project – brothers Victor and David Rodriguez – are currently working on a new name.

But there is good news, too. Funding for the brewery has been confirmed, and construction is currently in progress. The team is aiming to open their doors to the public summer 2018.

The yet-to-be-named brewery will be a Southern-European, Mediterranean-styled experience. David, who is head brewer on the project, has opened two breweries in Madrid, Spain. David will bring this experience, as well as some Mediterranean inspiration, into the new project.

In addition to fresh beer, guests will be able to order Spanish tapas, Italian cicchetti, and Grecian mezza. This will be the first brewery in Pittsburgh to serve a vast collection of Southern European offerings.

The space will be unique, with a outdoor beer garden and music venue to enjoy in the warmer months. Finally, above the brewery is an 8-lane bowling alley. The space will eventually work in tandem with the brewery.

Follow the brewery on Facebook for updates on their opening.
