The wait is almost over! Driftwood Oven announced in November that they were pausing their mobile pizza operation to begin construction on their first brick-and-mortar location in Lawrenceville.
After a few months of anticipation, the time has almost come again to munch on Driftwood’s famous Major Tom pizza!
Previously, Driftwood Oven operated from a mobile setup with a woodfired oven, dough boxes, and a few tables. The pizza quickly developed a cult following around the city.
The official Driftwood Oven location is currently gearing up to open to the public. The pizzeria is presently operating under a “soft-opening,” with flexible hours posted on their social media pages. Official hours of operation will be announced in the upcoming weeks.
Leading up to their opening, Driftwood launched a very successful Kickstarter campaign to fund the build out of their kitchen and restaurant. The campaign reached 70% of their goal in one day, and 100% in two.
Driftwood is taking over the space previously occupied by Matteo’s Restaurant at 3615 Butler Street. The company began in 2015 by Neil Blazin and Justin Vetter, who first met at Legume Bistro in Oakland.
