These 32 Pittsburgh Bars and Restaurants Allow Dogs

UPDATE, MARCH 17, 2018: When we originally published this piece in 2017, we found 17 bars, breweries and restaurants that made it easy for owners to grab a drink or an (outdoor) bite to eat with their dog by their side. Since then, you’ve shared plenty of other establishments that encourage well-behaved dogs to tag along with their owners, and we’ve updated the list accordingly. Remember, non-service dogs are never allowed inside bars and restaurants where food is being prepared, so when the weather is cold and patios and outdoor seating areas are closed, your options are more limited.

ORIGINAL:

If there is anything better than enjoying a cold drink at one of Pittsburgh’s breweries or bars, it’s enjoying that drink with your favorite furry friend by your side.

Pittsburgh is lucky enough to have a plethora of bars that welcome pets, either inside or on the patio, so you don’t have to leave your pooch behind when you go for a drink with friends.

While all dogs are welcome, most bars and restaurants ask pet owners to make sure their dogs like to socialize, or are well-behaved in crowded spaces, before bringing them in. And, late nights and loud music don’t make for happy pups, so keep your dog’s health and well-being in mind before grabbing those leashes, and taking them out to these pet-friendly spots.

Allegheny City Brewing

This cozy little brewery on the North Side welcomes well-behaved pets. Additionally, the owners are such big dog lovers that they have entire wall dedicated to their patron’s animals. They welcome anyone who stops through to bring along a picture of their pet to tack onto the wall!

Last time I was there Hitchhiker’s Mt. Lebo location was no longer allowing dogs. Apparently one guy complained and ruined it for everyone else. Dogs are not currently allowed inside at Sharpsburg. There’s talk of an outdoor garden but no word on whether they’ll allow your best friend to join you.

HitchHikers use to allow dogs indoor, but as of October they no longer do. I assume the patio is still dog friendly.
