Thursday, April 5

First Taste of Cuba at Phipps Conservatory
Enjoy the grand opening of Tropical Forest Cuba at Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens with a Cuban-inspired party with small plates and tropical cocktails. Tickets start at $125, and more information can be found online.

Saturday, April 7

North Hills Home Brew Fest
Home brewers are coming together for this special beer festival, which will feature more than 50 different home-brewed beers to be sampled and voted on. Tickets to the event are $30, with special VIP tickets for $50. Read more online.

 

Friday, April 13

Two Scientists Walk Into a Bar
At various bars across the city, including Threadbare Cider, Grist House, Spoonwood Brewing, and Eleventh Hour Brewing, a pair of scientists, all with different areas of expertise, will be spending a couple of hours at the bar, ready to have a chat with anyone who wants to ask anything about science. Jurassic Park After Dark at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History
Learn more about dinosaur museum specimens with a special 21+ after-hours part at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History. Jurassic Park will be playing at the museum, live animals that shrae common ancestors with dinosaurs will be on hand, and there will be plenty of cocktails for sipping. Spring Hill Brewing Opening Weekend
It’s finally here! Spring Hill Brewing is celebrating the opening of their brewery in the Spring Hill neighborhood in Pittsburgh, and they’re hosting a special opening weekend. Read all about it online.

Saturday, April 14

Farm to Table Local Food Confernce at David L. Lawrence Convention Center
Farm to Table is back, and will be held at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center downtown on Saturday, April 14 and Sunday, April 15. Registration starts at $20 per person, and includes access to the event, which will feature speakers and workshops, along with lots of local food vendors sharing their products. See more online.

Wine and Taco Fest at David L. Lawrence Convention Center
Tacos? Wine? We’re in! Head to the David L. Lawrence Convention Center for a Taco’s ‘n Vino Food Fest’acular, which will feature three sessions filled with lots of food and shopping vendors, and local wineries. Tickets start at $19, and more information can be purchased on their event page.

Sunday, April 15

Homemade Butter, Ricotta and Chevre Workshop at Grow Pittsburgh
Grow Pittsburgh and Ferment Pittsburgh are teaming up for an afternoon of learning for those who want to know how to make their own butter and cheese at home. Topics include a brief history of dairy and dairy farming, an overview of properties and character of milk, and lessons on how to make wild-cultured butter, homemade ricotta, and chevre. Tickets are $20 each, can be found online.

Monday, April 16

Michigan & Trumbull Beer Dinner at Federal Galley
Federal Galley’s Michigan & Trumbull is hosting a very special four-course pizza and beer dinner with Allegheny City Brewing on April 16, featuring dishes like Buckwheat flatbread paired with Ginger IPA, and Detroit-style ‘spent grain’ pizza topped with pastrami-spiced mushroom, gruyere and red cabbage, and paired with Nova Gose. Tickets are $51, and can be purchased online.

Tuesday, April 17

Grow Pittsburgh Benefit Dinner at Mad Mex
Support Grow Pittsburgh’s (awesome) mission at a Build-Your-Own-Fajita Party at Mad Mex in Shadyside. The buffet includes chips, salsa and guacamole, salad, wings, and fajitas, plus a draft beer or margarita. Tickets are $48 per person, and can be purchased on the event page.

Thursday, April 19

21+ Speakeasy Social at Heinz History Center
Build your own specialty cocktail from Wigle Whiskey at the Heinz History Center for their Speakeasy Social series while answering boozy trivia questions in a replica speakeasy. Tickets are $12 per person, and can be purchased online.

Friday, April 20

Barrelhouse & Whiskey Garden Season Opening at Wigle Whiskey
Wigle Whiskey’s Barrelhouse & Whiskey Garden will officially be open for the season on Friday, April 20! Sample their Single Barrel Straight Bourbon straight from the cask, enjoy barrel-aged cocktails, and take part in a live kissing booth with adoptable doggos from Humane Animal Rescue. There will also be live music, the Gaucho Asado food truck on side, and your own dogs are invited to be part of a Pooch Parade. See more information on their event page.

Wine and Chocolate Pairing at the Winery at Wilcox
Have a sweet time at the Winery at Wilcox’s Wine and Chocolate Pairing on April 20. They’ll have five chocolates, including a milk chocolate Peanut Butter Cup, Dark Chocolate Oreo and more, all paired with five wines. Tickets are $15 per person, and reservations can be made at 412-490-9590.

Downtown Food Truck Festival
This two-day food truck fest (Friday, April 20 and Saturday, April 21) will celebrate Earth Day in Pittsburgh, and will feature participating food trucks like BRGR, Wok of Life, Kona Ice, PGH Sandwich Society, the Burgh Bites Cart and more. Find the festival on Smithfield Street, across from the Oliver Building.

Saturday, April 28

Cultured Cocktails at the Benedum
Celebrate Pittsburgh’s Cocktail Renaissance at Cultured Cocktails, a special event hosted by the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust. Cocktail samples will be paired with food selections from a variety of Pittsburgh restaurants. Tickets are $45 for General Admission and $95 for VIP. More information can be found online.

Monday, April 30

Lidia Bastianich at Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh
Lidia Bastianich, author, restaurateur and owner of Lidia’s Pittsburgh, will be at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh for a discussion about her new book ‘My American Dream,’ and book signing. Tickets are $34, include a copy of the book, and are available online.
