For the 12th year in a row, the Farm to Table Conference it returning to Pittsburgh!
The event will take place this Saturday and Sunday, April 14 and April 15, at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center downtown.
Farm to Table is one of Pittsburgh’s premier local food and beverage festivals and provides guests with lots of valuable information on local foods.
This year’s theme is ‘Buy Local!’ and will feature event programming that places an emphasis on connecting consumers and locavores to local farms, producers, and purveyors. Farm to Table organizers have also launched a ‘Buy Local’ campaign that will help local farms and food and beverage producers to increase the availability of healthy, real food in both urban and rural areas of Western Pennsylvania, with a goal to educate and connect consumers and give key resources to local food producers to give them a competitive advantage in the grocers’ market.
Activities at the festival include cooking demonstrations, shopping for goods, gardening, and much more.
The event will feature over 200 food vendors, including Kingview Mead, The Olive Tap, Wigle Whiskey, Pittsburgh Alkaline Water, Penn’s Corner Farm Alliance, and more. Guests will be able to sample products and purchase items like seedlings, eggs, cheeses, veggies, dairy products, meat, wine, beer and spirits.
There will also be two full days of speakers, a Sunday morning brunch, and a Sunday evening “Farm to Flask” tasting event.
“Our goal is to bridge the gap between consumers and local food producers. Eating locally grown food benefits both our physical health and also our local economic health,” says the Farm to Table website.
Registration starts at $20 for a one-day admission. Tickets can be purchased online.
