October is National Adopt-a-Shelter Dog Month (a worthy cause, if we’ve ever heard of one), and the pet-friendly Hotel Monaco Pittsburgh is celebrating with a rooftop adoption event.
The hotel is opening its doors to dogs of all sizes on Sunday, October 4 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. They’ll be teaming up with the local shelter Animal Friends, to place adoptable dogs in their forever homes.
The family-friendly event will take place on the hotel’s rooftop, and will feature an interactive photo booth, live readings from the Dr. Seuss book, “What Pet Should I Get?” and Seuss-themed snacks and drinks, including sliders, chicken fingers, flatbreads and a lemonade bar. Wigle Whiskey has crafted some adults-only cocktails, and lots of dogs will be on hand for playing (and snuggles, of course).
The outdoor event is rain or shine, and tickets are $10 for kids, and $20 for adults, which includes all food and beverages. All proceeds benefit Animal Friends, and they’re also holding a drive for blankets, towels, and pet food. Tickets can be purchased online, or with cash the day of the event.
Hotel Monaco is also kicking off a #NameTheDane Facebook contest at the event, and will be taking submissions through October 18 to name the hotel’s Great Dane dog statue. The winner will receive an overnight stay at Hotel Monaco Pittsburgh, plus dinner for two at The Commoner.
