Friday Roundup: Weekend Picks

October 2, 2015 by Emily Catalano Leave a Comment

There are almost too many good things to eat and drink this weekend in Pittsburgh. Our weekend picks?

roundup-amazing

It’s fresh, it’s healthy… and it’s downright amazing. Amazing Cafe’s roasted beet salad features fresh greens, sliced tomatoes, and crumbled cheese. And will make you feel so good about having it for lunch.

roundup-meat-potatoes

There’s a new snack at Meat & Potatoes (and it’s a must try). Stop in this weekend for their fried pig ears, tossed in a sweet Thai chili sauce with sesame, and served with pickles. So worth going out of your comfort zone.

roundup-lidias

Lidia’s Italy Pittsburgh is back open after some extensive renovations – and they have lots of new menu items this Fall. Right now, get their house-made zucca (pumpkin) raviolis, served with sage brown butter.

roundup-pjc

We all know that Pittsburgh Juice Company is awesome for picking up cold pressed juices… but they also have cold pressed coffee! And they suggest mixing it with their Cashew Mocha, or into their Spanish Almond Milk or Cashew Chai Spice Latte for a super-personalized shot of caffeine.

roundup-grit-grace

We can hardly wait for brunch. Grit & Grace has an amazing brunch Steam Bun, stuffed with mortadella, a fried egg, kimchi and cheddar. It’s only available on Sundays from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. – but you’ll have to get in line after us.

roundup-leonas

It’s time for Pumpkin Caramel ice cream on a Shortbread cookie from Leona’s Ice Cream Sandwiches! This perfectly seasonal treat will be available at the retail locations that stock them, including 52nd Street Market, Staghorn, feast on brilliant and Marty’s Market. Plus, they’ll be at the Brew Gentlemen’s Food Truck Roundup on Saturday.

roundup-braddocks

October is National Pizza Month, and Braddock’s American Brasserie is celebrating with their pierogi of the month. The Pepperoni Pizza Pierogi is stuffed with pepperoni, mozzarella, ricotta and basil, deep-fried, and served with marinara sauce for dipping.
