Last month, Pittsburgh was excited to hear the news that the American Cheese Society had selected Pittsburgh as the location for their 2018 cheese conference!
This three-day festival is one of the premier cheese festivals in the world. Fromagers and cheese mongers from around the globe flock to the ACS conference to learn more about American cheeses. The event will be held July 25-28, 2018, at The David L. Lawrence Convention Center.
Tickets to the event are several hundred dollars, but it is possible for cheese fanatics to experience the festival by volunteering. The event is supported by hundreds of dedicated, cheese-loving volunteers. Donating your time to ACS 2018 has many perks, including the opportunity to meet cheesemakers and try some cheese.
Volunteering registration is currently open, and shifts are available between July 20 – 28, 2018.
Volunteers will assist with many aspects of Conference events, including helping behind the scenes of the judging, and preparing cheeses for the Festival of Cheese and Cheese Sale.
All volunteers will receive:
• A complimentary ticket to the Festival of Cheese on the evening of Saturday, July 28, allowing you to sample over 2,000 Judging & Competition cheeses and specialty foods. Additional tickets for friends and family can be found online.
• An official “Team Cheese” volunteer t-shirt (available only to volunteers)
• Complimentary meal whenever your shift coincides with a scheduled ACS Conference meal time
• Volunteers who assist with a Judging & Competition 8+ hour shift will receive a complimentary ticket to the Awards Ceremony & Reception on the evening of Friday, July 27
