It’s safe to say that Pittsburgh is a sandwich town (hello, Primanti Brothers!) And luckily, with so many great restaurants, comes so many great sandwiches.

Lately, we’ve been enjoying them all – from fried chicken on brioche, to mortadella on sourdough. Below we’ve rounded up 15 of the very best sandwiches that are currently being served in and around Pittsburgh. Enjoy!

15 Sandwiches to Eat Right Now in Pittsburgh

1. The “Everything” Pork at Duncan St Sandwich Shop

This new sandwich shop, which opened Millvale in September, is known for serving up unique and innovative sandwiches on freshly baked bread. Their “Everything Pork” sandwich is already a fast favorite, featuring roasted pork, everything seasoning, pickled red onion jam, boursin, cucumber, and fried onion.

2. The Pilgrim at GetGo

It’s that time of year again! The Pilgrim is back at GetGo. Stop by any of their locations to try this Thanksgiving-inspired sandwich which loads roast turkey, white cheddar, cranberry sauce, and gravy between two slices of stuffing bread.

3. The Italian Hoagie at Driftwood Oven

This popular pizzeria is dedicated to their doughs, and is famous for their tangy sourdough crusts, sandwiches, and loaves (have you heard about their bread-share program?) In addition to their pizzas, Driftwood also offer a menu of hearty sandwiches on housemade bread. Their Italian Hoagie is made with local mortadella, coppa secca, pepperoni, local greens, Carmen peppers, pickles red onions, Italian dressing and aioli.

4. The Boo at Spork Pit

Penn Ave’s new BBQ restaurant is already making a name for itself with its fall-off-the-bone meats and frozen cocktails. While everything on the menu is tempting, don’t skip over Spork Pit’s only sandwich – The Boo! The boo is loaded with brisket, melted specialty cheese blend, house-made pickles, pickled onion, coleslaw and spicy mayo onto a buttery brioche bun.

5. The Beast at Carson Street Deli

Feeling up for a challenge? The Beast at Carson Street Deli has your name on it! This sandwich is overflowing with caramelized onion, hot roast beef, melted cheddar, roasted red peppers, and sriracha mayo on a toasted ciabatta roll.

6. The Kamikaze at BRGR

The above picture speaks for itself. We are craving the Kamikaze sandwich at BRGR, which contains a citrus-tamari marinated ahi tuna fillet, wontons, hot & sour cucumber slaw, toasted sesame seeds, sriracha, and mayonnaise.

7. The Fluffernutter from Wise County Biscuits

Breakfast is served! Wise County Biscuits is known for their hearty biscuit sandwiches featuring savory ingredients like chow-chow, pimento cheese, and collard greens. However, lately we’ve been craving their sweetest sandwich – The Fluffernutter. This treat is made fresh with homemade peanut butter and marshmallow whip.

8. Lil Chunky’s Chicken Deluxe at Bird on the Run

Bird on the Run, located on Highland Ave in East Liberty, is the perfect fast-casual spot for dining in, or taking out. Be sure to try their “Lil Chunky’s Chicken Deluxe,” comprised of lettuce, American cheese, bacon, pickled green tomato, sunny side up egg, spicy mayo on a brioche bun.

9. Lobster Po’ Boy at The Lot at Edgewater

Make the trip to the charming neighborhood of Oakmont to eat at The Lot at Edgewater, which opened on the lower boulevard that past summer. The menu is loaded with intriguing dishes (be sure to stop by for brunch), and one of our favorites is the Lobster Po’ Boy with sweet & sour slaw, basil, aioli, and country white.

10. The Porchetta Sandwich at Mediterra Café

A wonderful new addition to Beaver Street in Sewickley is Mediterra Cafe, the first brick-and-mortar location from Pittsburgh’s Mediterra Bakehouse. The shop serves breakfast, lunch, and conserva. Be sure to look out for the Porchetta Sandwich, made with pizza bianca, pork belly, slow-cooked broccoli, pickled peppers and lemon aioli.

11. Alfajores at Gaucho Parrilla Argentina

There are too many great sandwiches on the Gaucho menu to pick just one, but whatever you decide, but sure to end your meal with one of the restaurant’s housemade alfajores cookies. These traditional South American cookies sandwich a thick layer of Dulce de Leche between two crumbly, cornstarch cookies.

12. The Vegan Press from Supper at Federal Galley

This vegan sandwich is piled high and will leave you completely satisfied! Coming from Supper, one of the restaurants in Federal Galley on the Northside, the Vegan Press combines date hummus, roasted butternut squash, and smashed chickpeas with sunflower seeds on sourdough bread.

13. El Cubano at Forbes Tavern

If you haven’t yet been to the Forbes Tavern, which opened in the former Courthouse Tavern space in July, what are you waiting for? One of the all-stars of the menu is the Cubano sandwich. Forbes’ Chef Cort McCordy previously worked at Gaucho Parrilla Argentina, and spent time cooking in both Peru and Cuba. McCordy used his experience cooking in Cuba to craft an authentic (and delicious!) Cuban sandwich!

14. Brisket Sandwich at Walter’s BBQ

This new BBQ restaurant on Butler Street in Lawrenceville has one of the best outdoor spaces in the city. It offers the perfect spot to hang with a large group of friends, play cornhole, and eat some delicious food from the on-site smoker. Be sure to try the brisket sandwich! This delectable sandwich features freshly sliced brisket (with sauce or naked) and coleslaw on a brioche bun. While you’re there, don’t forget the Frito Pie!

15. Turkey Apple Cheddar Panini at LaBella Bean

This cozy coffee shop in Bridgeville offers a menu of gourmet sandwiches and breakfast options. In honor of fall, LaBella is serving a “Turkey Apple Cheddar Panini,” made with apple butter and grainy mustard.

    I can’t believe you left out Wicked Witches in Cheswick and their Conewitch sandwiches. There are 3 and they smoke their own meats. It is a coneshaped sandwich served on a stand and filled with all homemade bbq beans, pork, and coleslaw.
