The Pittsburgh food scene never sleeps! Yes, we did just publish a list of 13 new Pittsburgh restaurants at the beginning of January… but we have already rounded up 16 additional restaurants that have opened all over the city. Enjoy!

Now open on Potomac Ave in Dormont! Stop by to enjoy a full Italian deli with homemade sandwiches, creamy gelato, fresh Mancini bread, and a small gift shop including coffees, honey, specialty salts, and Italian groceries.

CHiKN is bringing Nashville-style hot chicken sandwiches to Forbes Avenue in Oakland. Customers will find a menu of classic fried chicken sandwiches (served with slaw and pickles), chicken tenders, Chicken & Waffles, and chicken salads, and side dishes like cheesy Mac & Cheese, crinkle-cut French fries and coleslaw. Shadyside is now home to Fig & Waffle, a cozy cafe on Copeland Street. The menu features various breakfast and brunch options, such as waffles, tartines, salads, omelettes, and fresh pressed juices.

Now open on Penn Avenue, Everyday’s a Sunday Cafe offers a charming menu of sandwiches, wraps, salads, and soups that are available in the cafe and for catering. Options include the “DaVinci” with Turkey Breast, Swiss Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, and Pesto Aioli on Toasted Rosemary Ciabatta Bread.

Roots Natural Kitchen offers delicious and healthy bowls that you can design yourself. The menu features a number of house-made bowl creations, like the Pesto Caesar (kale, bulgur and chicken in a Pesto-Caesar sauce), the Roots Bowl (with rice, spinach, and sweet potatoes topped with lemon tahini), or The Apollo (brown rice, chic peas, cucumbers, pita chips, and lemon za’atar). Or, choose from bases like brown rice, kale, and bulgur, and create your own healthy bowl, using proteins like chicken, red chili tofu, or vegetables.

Needle & Pin in Dormont has recently changed direction, and is now Jean Louis, a French bistro featuring true French fare made from fresh ingredients, as well as a curated collection of wines and cocktails. Menu highlights include steak tartare, Amish chicken liver pate, short rib beef bourguignon, homemade pasta with wild boar ragu, and duck breast with wild mushroom risotto.

The South Side is now home to Astroid, a trendy coffee shop in the Terminal Building at The Highline, adjacent to Beauty Shoppe’s co-working space. In addition to tea and coffee (the espresso and drip coffee are standouts here), the shop also serves pastries, like croissants, muffins, financiers, and savory tarts.

Stop by Kabab N Curry for classic Tandoori cooking. The space is open for lunch and dinner, with buffet options available. The menu features dishes like  Chicken biryani, Goat biryani, Lamb biryani, chicken tandoori, and a variety of curries.

    Fyi, Rocchio’s in Dormont is closed. Word on,the street is one partner walked out. However the remaining partner is supposed to open again but there’s no timeframe listed.
