Workshop PGH, a new do-it-yourself school and event space in Garfield, is putting a new spin on brunch.
On Saturday, June 4, they’ll be hosting their very first DIY Brunch with (one of our favorite brunch spots) Sweet Peaches. The menu will include a breakfast buffet, with a create-your-own omelet station, refreshments, and a cocktail for adults. After brunch, guests will be invited to get crafty, and make their own terrarium or flower crown to take home.
Workshop PGH owner Kelly Malone says that working with local chefs in the Pittsburgh area will be a priority for the new space.
“We’re going to be teaming up with different chefs, and will rotate between brunches and dinners,” Malone says. “We’ll have popups with different kinds of food, and will base it around our current art shows, and combine a DIY class with a meal to make it really interactive.”
Malone, who first launched the Workshop concept in San Francisco, says that once the Pittsburgh space is completely up and running, it will host between 20 to 30 DIY classes a month, working with local artists, crafters, makers and cooking instructors to teach classes on a variety of topics.
The space will feature a gallery with rotating local art, and a retail space, with handmade foods, tee shirts, and art supplies for sale.
“We’ll also be working with our teachers on limited-edition products to sale,” Malone says. “So, if we have a pickling class one week, maybe we’ll have the teacher create a special pickling spice.”
Tickets to Saturday’s DIY Brunch with Sweet Peaches are $30 for adults and $15 for children, and include brunch, one drink ticket, and all the materials needed for the craft. To make reservations, visit their event page.
