Tacos & Tequila Cantina Coming to Mount Washington

April 18, 2019 by Madeline Quigley Leave a Comment

Coughlin’s Law Kitchen and Ale House

If you’re looking for Cinco de Mayo plans this year, you’re going to want to make the trek up to Mount Washington.

That’s the day that “T&T Caintina,” the neighborhood’s newest Mexican cantina, is opening.

This brand new bar and taco stand is located on the side patio of Coughlin’s Law, a popular gastropub that opened on Virginia Avenue last year.

Coughlin’s Law is known for their pub food, elevated cocktail menu, and views of Downtown Pittsburgh. From the beginning, the owners had an idea to also open a small, fast-casual taco stand. When they realized their front patio, which has separate garage access, wasn’t being utilized, they decided to solve one problem with another.

The Coughlin’s Law team is now rapidly transforming the space into “T & T Cantina.” The name aptly stands for “Tequila and Tacos,” which is the main focus of the restaurant.

Located completely outdoors, the space will have a relaxed, cantina feel. Customers will walk up to the bar to order drinks and tacos, and enjoy them on the lush patio, or take them to-go.  The menu is simple: chips & salsa, made-to-order guacamole, black beans, mexican corn, and, of course, fresh tacos. There are five types of tacos, including: ground beef, brisket, carnitas, smoked chicken, and roasted cauliflower & chickpea.

As one would expect from a restaurant with “tequila” in the name, there will be a heavy emphasis on tequila drinks, and the restaurant will have a menu of over 50 types of tequila. Just as they do at Coughlin’s Law, T&T will offer a menu of fresh cocktails with housemade ingredients, including the “Watermelon Jalapeno Smash,” and the “Tequila Mockingbird,” which features prickly pear purée.  The bar will also serve Coronas, Modelo, and Mexican soda.

Happy Hour will be Monday – Friday from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M., offering $3 bottled beers and $6 cocktails. As a “Taco Tuesday” special, T&T will offer a “2 for $5” taco deal.

The patio will be a fun place to hangout, with lights, cushions, tables, umbrellas, and a fire pit. One the weekends, the restaurant will provide a late-night food option until 2:00 A.M.

T&T will be open daily for lunch. Once open, the hours of operation will be:
Monday – Thursday: 11:30 A.M. – 10:00 P.M.
Friday: 11:30 A.M. – 2:00 A.M.
Saturday: 1:00 P.M. – 2:00 A.M.
Sunday: 1:00 P.M. – 10:00 P.M.
