If there’s anybody in Pittsburgh who’s a better representation of our culinary community than Rick Sebak, we’d like meet them. For decades, Sebak has been producing documentaries about Pittsburgh and beyond, all that show the gentler, sweeter side of life, from last year’s ‘A Few Good Pie Places’ to his classic ‘A Hot Dog Program.’
And this month, Bayardstown Social Club is celebrating all things Sebak with a mini movie series, featuring back-to-back showings of some of Sebak’s favorite documentaries, along with trivia, music, food – and the man himself.
On Thursday, June 23, the outdoor social club will be showing ‘A History of Pittsburgh in 17 Objects,’ and ‘A Few Good Pie Places.’ They’ll be playing Pittsburgh trivia games, handing out sample of different kinds of pies from Millvale’s Grant Bar (while supplies last), and featuring live music by members of The Beagle Brothers and James Hart of the Harlan Twins.
On Thursday, June 30, the lineup will feature ‘A Hot Dog Program’ and ‘Kennywood Memories.’ On the menu? Fresh-grilled hot dogs, of course.
Doors open at 6:00 p.m. each night, movies start at dusk, and guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs. Tickets are $5 for Bayardstown members, and $10 for non-members.
