A few weeks ago, Spirit quietly began hosting Saturday backyard lunch parties, featuring different chefs and different themes, all taking advantage of Spirit’s outdoor wood-burning oven.
Now, they’ve announced a month-long residency of Slice Island’s Becca Hegarty, who will be taking over the Saturday backyard lunches, with a rotating menu that will feature completely (yep, 100%) organically-grown, Pennsylvania-sourced ingredients… how’s that for farm-to-table?
Local products will include produce from New Bethlehem’s Who Cooks for You Farm, wheat, corn and eggs from Avella’s Weatherbury Farms, and a special rose-petal jam made with hand-picked rose petals from Ferment Pittsburgh’s Justin Lubecki, proving that when it comes to local sourcing, it’s an all-hands-on-deck kind of thing.
During each backyard brunch, Spirit’s outside patio bar will be open, and serving up a weekly changing menu of featured cocktails, wine, beer, and boozy popsicles, too.
Spirit’s Saturday Backyard Lunches are every Saturday from noon to 4:00 p.m., and all ages are welcome. Hegarty will be the backyard lunch chef on August 6, August 13, August 27 and September 3.
