Parker’s PGH, a Café Celebrating Pittsburgh, Opens in Dormont

There’s a new place to get a quick bite in Dormont.

Parker’s PGH, a café featuring breakfast and lunch menus made with local meats, cheeses, produce and buns, opened today on the corner of Glenmore and Potomac Avenues.

The café, run by co-owners Luke Parker and David Laffey, will sell Pittsburgh-made products, like Zeke’s Coffee and pretzels from The Pretzel Shop.

They’re offering traditional breakfast sandwiches – think eggs, cheese, and their own house-made sausage – on bagels, or a Pretzel Shop pretzel bun. For lunch, they have sandwiches made with meats from Lawrenceville’s Butcher on Butler, like smoked turkey, ham, pepperoni and salami.

Bonus for anyone looking to try something different: You can choose to have your sandwiches ‘steamed,’ a cooking process that brings out the juiciness and flavor of the meat.

“We’re bringing the best that Pittsburgh has to offer,” Parker says. “We’re working with all of these Pittsburgh companies that have really great products – like Zeke’s Coffee, which is just a great, great local company. Even our coffee cups and to go bags are bought from a local company on the Strip.”

The restaurant is eat-in, or take out, and outdoor seating is available when the weather cooperates.

Moving forward, Parker says he hopes to collaborate with even more local food companies to bring pastries, breads, and Pittsburgh favorites (like pepperoni rolls) to Parker’s.

The café is open from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturdays.
