What We’re Thankful For This Thanksgiving

thankful

Happy Thanksgiving to all of our wonderful Good Food Pittsburgh readers! For the last four months, we’ve really enjoyed building this site, and hearing from you all about the best spots in town, and your favorite dishes.

In the spirit of the holiday, we wanted to share the Pittsburgh favorites that we’re most thankful for this year.

The Rooftop at Sienna Mercato –  It’s not even winter yet, and we’re already dreaming of warm summer nights on the roof at Sienna Mercato. With a lovely downtown view, and a full bar (hello, Italian brews), we’re thankful that we can enjoy this gem all year long.

Independent Brewing Company’s Menu – Independent Brewing Company is known for its beer selection, but they have one of the best dinner menus in the city. We love their philosophy on food – it should be local, seasonal, and doesn’t need to limited to one kind of cuisine. Right now, they’re featuring a new winter menu, with lots of comfort food favorites, like Shrimp & Grits, and Mac & Cheese. We say yes & yes… and thank you, IBC.

Steamed Buns at Noodlehead: We’re obsessed with steam buns, and Noodlehead’s pork steam buns make our mouths water. We’re so thankful that we can pop in and pick up these flavorful little snacks whenever we want – and we’ve been known to sneak in between meals for a fix.

The Pittsburgh Public Market: We love everything about the Pittsburgh Public Market, from the fresh local product at Clarion Organics to the 2-ounce tastings at East End Brewery, and all of the local shops in between. It’s been such a welcome addition to the Strip District – and such a gracious sponsor of our food swaps.

Cocktails at Bar Marco: Our vote for the coziest, coolest bar in town? Bar Marco. We’re equally comfortable there sipping drinks on a relaxing Sunday afternoon as we are hanging out after hours. And, in a town full of mixologists working hard to hone their craft, the crew at Bar Marco goes above and beyond to create unique twists on classic cocktails.

Conflict Kitchen: With Conflict Kitchen making national news in the last few weeks, we were reminded how proud we are to have a place in town that gets people talking… talking about food, talking about politics, talking about the world. Through the years it’s given us tastes of places around the world that many of us will never visit, and for that, we’re eternally grateful.

So, that’s our short list this Thanksgiving. Most of all, though, we’re grateful for you, our readers. Thank you for every comment, every like, every retweet, every share, and every good food tip that you’ve sent us. And, we’d love to hear from you – share with us the Pittsburgh spots and dishes that make you thankful all year long.
