Habitat Hosting Brunch for Canadian Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving, Canada!

Fairmont Pittsburgh is celebrating their Canadian ties (Fairmont’s corporate headquarters are located in Toronto), and hosting a brunch for Canadian Thanksgiving at Habitat on Sunday, October 11, with a full array of dishes inspired by our neighbors to the north.

The menu will feature signature items from each of Canada’s provinces, as well as traditional Thanksgiving dishes.

On the menu:

British Columbia

  • Roasted Maple Ridge Beets, goat cheese, fireweed honey, crisp frisee
  • Roasted Squash Salad, citrus and fresh thyme vinaigrette
  • Grilled Mission BC Vegetables
  • Tsawwassen Tomatoes, garlic, rosemary, balsamic
  • Sliced Fruits and Berries

Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba

  • Pumpkin Bread
  • Cranberry Bread
  • Eggs Benedict, Canadian bacon, Hollandaise sauce
  • Crisp Bacon and country-style sausage links
  • Taber Potatoes, caramelized onions and fresh herbs

Quebec

  • French-inspired cheese selection, dried fruits, nuts
  • European-style meats and pates, mustards, preserves, pickles

Ontario

  • London-raised Tom Turkey
  • Iroquois cranberry sauce
  • Old-fashioned bread stuffing
  • Maple-cured pork loin, Guelph-grown pumpkin and peanut puree
  • Whipped Alliston Gold potatoes
  • Baby Lake Huron vegetables
  • Green Beans Almandine

Maritime Provinces

  • House-smoked salmon
  • House-smoked trout
  • Peppered mackerel
  • Chilled PEI mussels
  • Marinated Bay scallops
  • Marie Rose sauce

Canadian-Inspired Desserts

  • Maple Walnut Layer Cake
  • Canadian Sugar Pie
  • Maple Ricotta Flan
  • Date Squares
  • Maple Pudding Chomeur
  • Nanaimo Bars
  • Ginger Snaps
  • Pecan Pie
  • Cranberry Caramel Cheesecake
  • Molasses Apple Pie

The Canadian Thanksgiving Brunch is $49 per person, and reservations can be made by calling 412-773-8848.

Habitat will also be offering Turkey To-Go dinners to take home, including a whole roasted turkey, butternut squash and apple cider bisque, bread stuffing, sage-pan gravy, buttermilk mashed potatoes, seasonal baby vegetables, cranberry sauce, and homemade pie. Dinner for six is $135 and dinner for 12 is $275.
