The 2017 Empty Bowls dinner won’t be held until March 19th, but the Union Project is hosting two “Glaze for Good” sessions this weekend to prepare the signature homemade bowls for the event.
The free bowl-decorating party will be held on Sunday, March 5 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. and 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Attendees will be glazing and decorating bowls made by local potters. The bowls will then be fired and donated to the 2017 Empty Bowl Dinner. The event is free, but RSVPing is necessary as space is limited.
Pittsburgh’s Empty Bowls Dinner is celebrating its 22nd year. During the event, guests are served a soup and bread from local restaurants in a handcrafted bowl that they get to take home. The event supports Pittsburgh neighbors in need, and proceeds benefit the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and Just Harvest, an organization that works to end hunger through public policies and public institutions.
Empty Bowls 2017 will be held on March 19 from 1:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Rodef Shalom Congregation. Tickets are $20 when purchased in advance and $25 at the door. Tickets can be purchased online.
