Rolled Ice Cream Shop 15° Fahrenheit Now Open in Mt. Lebanon

Mt. Lebanon now has a new spot for sweet treats, just in time for warmer weather.

15° Fahrenheit opened last week on Washington Road, offering Thai-inspired rolled ice cream.

Made-to-order rolled ice cream is created when a flavored, creamy ice cream batter is poured onto a below-freezing metal plate (-15 degrees Fahrenheit, in this case), and two paddles are then used to chop and mix in a variety of additions (think cookies, graham crackers and fruit). The thin sheets of frozen ice cream are then scraped into small rolls, and placed in a cup for consumption, with additional garnishes added on top.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Bob Batz Jr. chatted with 15° Fahrenheit owner Zhun Li, who told him that the shop uses a “high-quality and costly gelato base to make each serving, which can weigh up to 10 ounces or more.”

The menu at 15° Fahrenheit includes rolled ice cream takes on classics like Cookies & Cream, along with more adventurous options, like a Thai tea and lychee cup.

Guests also have the option to make their own creations, using any of the mix-ins available.

15° Fahrenheit is open seven days a week, from noon until 10:00 p.m.
