Pittsburgh has be drooling over the idea of Mac & Toz Alehouse, a Mac & Cheese-centric restaurant with a massive whiskey bar, since we announced its impending opening in March.

Well now, the wait is finally over – Mac & Toz Alehouse is officially open to the public! The restaurant had a soft opening in early June, and celebrated its opening day on June 11.

Located in Bridgeville in the former location of Sauce, the restaurant is set to become a destination in the area. Owners Susan McMahon and Randy Tozzie, who also own Bakn in Carnegie, are serving up a big menu with Mac & Toz, with a focus on elevated comfort food, and dishes that range from burgers to bar bites, sandwiches, and salads.

Oh, and of course there’s the Mac & Cheese.

One of hallmarks of the menu are the six different gourmet Mac & Cheese dishes. Included on the menu are:

  • Lobster Pot Mac: Butter, sauteed mini lobster, creamy cheddar cheese sauce, scallion, tomato, parmesan panko topping
  • Buffalo Bleu Mac: Grilled chicken breast, creamy cheddar cheese sauce, Bleu cheese crumbles, buffalo sauce, fried onion rings
  • Mac Attack: Creamy cheddar cheese sauce, french fries, onion rings, chopped bacon, shredded cheddar, scallion
  • Sausage Peppers and Onions Mac: Italian sweet sausage, bell peppers, onions, marinara, provolone, creamy cheddar cheese sauce,
  • Hot Mess Mac: Pepper jack cheese, sriracha, jalapeno rings, creamy cheddar cheese sauce, toasted panko topping
  • Cheddar Mac: Creamy cheddar cheese sauce, toasted Parmesan panko topping

All of the Mac & Cheese creations are served hot and ready in a cast iron skillet.

Finally, another aspect of the restaurant to look forward to is the whiskey wall, which displays a rotating selection of 24 curated whiskeys. Whiskey from every bottle will be available for $3 a taste.

“Since we are rotating them, we will have a lot of different types. There will be obscure ones, popular ones, and even different ages of the same whiskey. New alcohol can be crazy expensive, but this will give people a reason to try something new at a reasonable price. Plus, it will be a better use for the whiskey instead of just sitting on a shelf,” says McMahon.

Mac and Toz Alehouse is open Sunday through Thursday, from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m.
