Bryant Street in Highland Park is officially home to brand new restaurant.

Plate & Bowl, a new eatery located in the space formerly occupied by e2, is casual, family-oriented eatery offering American fare with Asian infusions. This restaurant is under the same ownership as Highland Park favorite Smiling Banana Leaf, which is located across the street.

Plate & Bowl is officially opening their doors to the public for lunch on Wednesday, July 19.

The space will be both a restaurant and a café. Lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch will be served upstairs, and the café will reside on the lower level. In the café portion of the space, patrons are welcome to stop in, grab a coffee or freshly prepared juice or smoothie, listen to music, and just hang out.

The menu will include “simple and honest” fare, as described by Chef Michael (Buzz) Olshansky. There will be a lot of Buddha Bowls with fermented grains, and the plan is to keep almost everything under $10. These bowls will feature meats, vegetables and other toppings, piled on various grain options. Some Buddha Bowl menu items include ‘Vegan Street Gyro,’ and Short Rib & Mac-n-Cheese.

Olshansky told us that Plate & Bowl will also eventually serve bone broth downstairs, and become a “juice broth-el” of sorts, where people can enjoy the soothing, protein-rich broth.

Plate & Bowl is BYOB, and will always feature vegan and vegetarian options on the menu. The restaurant will be open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 11:00 a.m – 9:00 p.m., Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Saturday from 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m., and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
