You asked, we answered!  Allow us to present the obvious follow up to last month’s 10 Pittsburgh Burgers You Must Try Right Now.

Covering both vegan and vegetarian options, we’ve found some of the most delicious, and under-the-radar plant-based burgers and sandwiches in Pittsburgh!

Pittsburgh’s plant-based meal kit service, Chip & Kale is making vegan-eating a whole lot easier in the city of Pittsburgh… and the entire country!  Chip & Kale ships their weekly meal plans across the lower 48 states, and deliveries within a 20 mile radius of Pittsburgh.  The meal plans change weekly, but one customer favorite is the “Peanut Butter Burger,” which tastes as good as it looks. Lili Cafe is a funky vegan and vegetarian coffee shop in Polish Hill.  While their menu is stacked with tons of delicious vegan and vegetarian treats, one customer favorite is the mouth-watering Vegan Sausage Special. This vegan sausage is topped with onion, avocado, cilantro spread, pickled jalapeños, and tomatoes, and is served on a baguette!  Lili Cafe also has a smaller sister cafe, located inside of Pittsburgh Filmmakers. Lili Cafe (3831 Dobson Street)

Jerky Jack at Square Cafe

Square Cafe has one of the most popular vegan menus in Pittsburgh, and its new summer dishes include something special – the “Jerky Jack.” This sandwich mimics pulled pork, but is made with jerked jackfruit, lettuce and pickles, and served on grilled ciabatta. Square Cafe also has a wonderful Black Bean Veggie Burger, and vegan pancakes! (vegan) Square Cafe (1137 S. Braddock Street)

Piper’s Pub is happy to substitute their vegan patty on any of their six burger options, as well as include it as part of their “build your own burger” menu. One customer favorite is their Mediterranean Vegan Burger.  Made in-house with brown rice and chickpeas, this patty is topped with pickled cucumber salad and olive tapenade, and served on a vegan kaiser roll. What can be said about the vegetarian burgers at Benjamin’s? Options, options, options! Substitute a veggie patty on any of their custom burger creations.  This means toppings like apple & goat cheese, truffle mustard & red wine braised onions, and candied jalapeno cream cheese are waiting for you to devour. Don’t forget about their Bloody Mary bar from 10:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Benjamin’s Western Avenue Burger Bar (900 Western Avenue)

You’ll have to keep your eyes peeled when traveling around the city of Pittsburgh to find this elusive, but tasty veggie burger. One of Pittsburgh’s favorite food trucks, the Pittsburgh Sandwich Society, makes a veggie burger worth seeking out.  Their truck-made veggie patty is topped with cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, spring mix, tomato, and aioli, all piled a whole wheat brioche bun. PGH Sandwich Society (various locations)

Peace, love, and this burger from one of Pittsburgh’s favorite burger joints, BRGR. This flavorful black bean, corn, and falafel patty is topped with tomato, guacamole, shredded lettuce, pepperjack cheese, cilantro, and lime creme fraiche.  Pair it with a cookie dough milkshake, and fries with truffle cheese-whiz for the ultimate BRGR experience. BRGR (various locations)
