After the success of last year’s Summer Recess festival at Spirit in Lawrenceville, the event is coming back again for a second year!
Summer Recess Outdoor Food and Music Festival will be held Saturday, August 12 from 12:00 p.m.to 9:00 p.m. in the outdoor Spirit Garden (adjacent to Spirit Hall). The festival will be followed by 21+ fun in the lounge from 9:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.
In addition to a lineup of awesome local musicians, Spirit brings in a collection of amazing food vendors. Both vegan and vegetarian food options will be staples of the festival.
Guests are welcome to bring their board and skate the Overcast Skateshop ramps and grind boxes. There will also be a dunk tank, and boozy snow cones served on the school bus.

Spirit’s second annual Summer Recess is bringing out some of Pittsburgh’s favorite musicians to play.

The outdoor discoteca will include grooves by: C.Scott, Eric Justin, Jarrett Tebbets, Darth Perm and ELQ-East Liberty Quarters.
Finally, various artist vendors, and vintage pop ups will be at the event, including: Horsethief, Highway Robbery, Flipping Records & Tapes, FarESH Brand, Calligramme, and Kara Zuzu Art.
The first 100 people who arrive at the festival will receive a free Summer Recess shirt compliments of CommonWealth Press and Straub Brewery.
The outdoor portion of this event is free, the indoor after party has a $7 cover. More information on this event can be found online.
