On the hottest days of summer, there’s nothing better than an icy, frozen cocktail. And, since we can’t head out to bar or restaurant (though, some outdoor dining is back open), lots of places are offering their best frozen concoctions to go.
Here’s a list of a few of our favorites.
Kingfly Spirits: Kingfly Spirits in the Strip District has a cool new treat available this weekend – ‘Limonaid’ Slushies. It’s their own Kingfly Limoncello, in slushy form. Get it this weekend on Friday from noon to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 10:00 p.m. to go, or enjoy on their outdoor patio. (2613 Smallman Street)
Carmi Soul Food: This South Side spot has added new alcoholic slushies to their menu, with flavors like Strawberry Hennessey, and Watermelon Long Island. (1825 East Carson Street)
Burgatory: You can always find boozy milkshakes at Burgatory, but this weekend, they’re offering a special option: Fried Ice Cream shakes, served with a crispy cinnamon cookie and a splash of rum. (multiple locations)
Lowkey Taco: Robinson Township’s Lowkey Taco has Whiteclaw slushies available to go, along with margarita pouches. Choose from a variety of different flavors, including Pina Colada, Blue Raspberry and Tropical. (690 Chauvet Drive)
Coughlin’s Law: Get frozen drinks to go at Coughlin’s Law Cantina in Mt. Washington. Right now, they have Rosé Froze and Mango Margaritas available for takeout (and their outdoor patio is open, too). (10 Virginia Avenue)
Hidden Harbor/The Independent: In addition to classic coktails like the Painkiller and Old-Fashioneds, Hidden Harbor and The Independent (all orders for both restaurants are taken through The Independent’s website) are also offering frozen Pina Coladas and frozen Irish Coffees to go. (1704 Shady Avenue)
Bella Bambini Cellos: Alcohol-infused slushies are available to go from Bella Bambini Cello in Coraopolis. Flavors include blueberry, limoncello and Jolly Rancher. (1042 5th Avenue, Corapolis)
Caliente Pizza & Drafthouse: Lots of frozen cocktails are on the menu at Caliente Pizza & Drafthouse, including all kinds of spiked slushies in various flavors, and icy White Russians. (multiple locations)
Allegheny Wine Mixer: Lawrenceville’s Allegheny Wine Mixer has a number of cocktails to go, including frozen options like Pina Coladas and Hemingway Daiquiris (with grapefruit, rum and lime). (5326 Butler Street)
Arsenal Cider: Frozen cider sorbets are on the menu at Arsenal Cider. Flavors rotate weekly, and have included raspberry, apple ginger, and rhubarb. (multiple locations)
J&D Cellars Winery: Not only does J&D Cellars Winery offer wine and rosé slushies, but they also have special Wine Slushie Dessert Sundaes. Every week they partner with a different business that bakes up something sweet. Then, they pair it with one of their wine slushie flavors, and layer it with gelato, syrup, whipped cream and fruit. Right now, they’re offering Caramel Apple Bars with Green Apple Wine Slushies (and you can add caramel moonshine for an extra kick). (290 Roupe Road, Eighty Four)
