12 Can’t-Miss Happy Hour Deals in Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh’s growing food scene gets a lot of attention, but that shouldn’t overshadow our city’s rapidly expanding bar scene. Many bars across the city are shaking and swirling drinks that are just as impressive as the meal to follow.

Luckily for us, many of these bars offer their delicious drinks at discounted prices during happy hour. If you’re looking to start trying some new cocktails and local beers, we suggest starting here.

Below is a collection of some of our favorite happy hour deals across the city of Pittsburgh. Where is your go-to spot? Leave it in the comments below!

Smallman Galley

The Smallman Galley is one of Pittsburgh’s favorite spots for afterwork drinks. Grab a pizza from Iron Born, some tacos from Banhmilicious, and a half-priced drink (or two) from the acclaimed Smallman bar.

The deal: Half off all cocktails, wines, and beers,  from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday through Friday

Drink suggestion: “The Port of Peril” with Quinta do Infantado tawny port, Cockburns ruby port, Maggie’s Farm La Revuelta dark rum, Boulard calvados, and Atxa white vermouth

Federal Galley

The Smallman Galley’s sister restaurant on the Northside, Federal Galley, has a very similar happy hour deal. If you haven’t yet made it to the Galley Group’s new Northside restaurant, you’re missing out! This gourmet dining hall has features four new restaurant, serving everything from juicy burgers, to Detroit-style pizza, spicy brussel sprouts, and steak with foie gras. Plus the interior is huge, making it great for large parties.

The deal: Half off all cocktails, wines, and beers from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Drink suggestion: “Pandan Express” with Herradura Blanco Tequila, pandan agave, pineapple, lime

Kaya

Another great spot in The Strip District for happy hour deal is Kaya. This longtime neighborhood staple serves cuisine inspired by the Caribbean Islands, South America, and the Pacific. Their dishes pair perfectly with their drinks, which have a similar tropical flair.

The deal: Half off all single serving drinks and craft draft beers from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Drink suggestion: “Pisco Sour” with Barsol pisco, lime, egg white, demerara, Angostura bitters

Hidden Harbor

Run, don’t walk, to catch the hour long “Half-off Happy Hour” at Hidden Harbor, where ten of the bar’s tropical drinks are offered at half of their regular menu price. These prices are a bargain for Hidden Harbor’s potent drinks.

If you’re willing to pay more for something a extra, stop by on Tuesdays, when the bar features a throwback “Tiki Time Machine” menu, or on Wednesday for “Weird Science Wednesdays” when the bar makes odd, molecular drinks with cotton candy and dry ice.

The deal:  Ten tropical classics are half-off from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Tuesday through Friday.

Drink suggestion: Trader Vic’s Mai Tai

Mixtape

Mixtape, located on Penn Ave in Garfield, has a late-night happy hour that runs until 9:00 p.m., Tuesday – Thursday, and 8:00 p.m. on Fridays. This makes means you can go home after work, walk your dog, run some errands, and still be able to grab a delicious drink at a discounted price. Mixtape is a tip-free establishment, and all of their cocktails are sold at sticker price, tax and gratuity included. These factors make Mixtape one of the best happy hour deals in town.

The deal: $2 off seasonal beer and $2 off signature cocktails from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday, and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday.

Drink suggestion: “Alpine Blast” with gin, pine liqueur, tonic, lemon, aquafaba, cardamon bitters

Merchant Oyster Co

Oyster happy hour? Sounds good to us! Merchant Oyster Co, located on Butler Street in Lawrenceville, has launched their brand new happy hour menu! In addition to some great drink deals, all bivalves – oysters, soft shell clams, mussels, clams – are half off! Merchant Oyster Co prides themselves on their fresh, high-quality seafood, so don’t miss trying these items at a discounted price!

The deal: Half off oysters, soft shell clams, mussels, clams, half off Narragansett pints and pitchers, and half off draft wine, including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir Rose, Cabernet, & Red Zinfandel, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday

Drink suggestion: Narragansett, of course!

Evangeline

Merchant’s Downtown sister restaurant, or, The Whale, has a very special happy hour. Stop by the restaurant’s Evangeline bar, located on the second floor of the Distrikt Hotel, for a very elegant experience including items like $2 caviar toasts.

The deal: $7 white, red, and rosé, half off Narragansett, $1.50 oysters, $2 caviar toasts from 4:30 p.m to 6:30 p.m., Tuesday through Friday.

Drink suggestion: White wine

Le Lyonnais

Le Lyonnais is a new French restaurant, located in the space formerly occupied by the Sonoma Grill. In addition to their menu of delicious French dishes, Le Lyonnais also offers one of the best Downtown happy hour deals! If you’re hungry, stop by for $7 French bar-bites like Ham & Emmental Croquettes and Chicken poutine. Their also have a late-night Saturday happy hour, meaning you can get a $2 beer. Downtown. On a Saturday.

The deal: The full menu can be viewed online and includes $2 beers, $2 shots, $9 wine carafes, $5 glasses of wine, and $5-7 cocktails, as well as the bar bites menu, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9:00 p.m to Midnight on Saturday.

Drink suggestion: “Kir Lyonnais” with Pol Clément Brut and pomegranate

Butterjoint

This Oakland hotspot is known for a couple of things: fancy burgers, buttery pierogies, and a fantastic bar menu.  With a warm atmosphere and friendly staff, Butterjoint is the perfect spot for grabbing drinks with friends.

The deal: $4 Craft Beer, $5 House Wine, $10 Carafes, $7 Cocktail of the Day, 4:30 p.m . to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday

Drink suggestion: Beer from their local craft beer list

Condados Tacos

With seven types of tortillas, ten types of protein, and dozens of topping options, it’s easy to see the appeal of Condados Tacos. As delicious as their tacos are, it would be a mistake to go to Condados and not take advantage of their fantastic margarita menu.

The deal: $1 off tacos and $3 margaritas from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday

Suggested drink: “Delicioso!”  margarita with Sauza Blue Reposado margarita, muddled jalapeño & cucumbers, and a splash of soda

Yuzu Kitchen

Tucked away on a Wood Street, Yuzu Kitchen is a hidden gem Downtown. In addition to flavorful ramen bowls, and hearty stir-frys, Yuzu has one of the most expansive drink menus in the city. If you’re interesting in learning more about sake, Japanese whiskey, and even Loire Valley wine, head to Yuzu Kitchen.

The deal: Select half priced appetizers, rotating $5 cocktails, and discounts on wine, sake, and beer from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. every day

Drink suggestion: Sake

The Summit

The Summit, located on Shiloh Street in Mt. Washington, is known for their delicious and innovative menus. If you’re looking for a new spot to grab a drink after work, head up the hill for something special at The Summit.

The deal:  $6 house cocktails, $1 off bottles and drafts from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Drink suggestion: Any of The Summit’s house cocktails.

Honorable mention – Spork

Spork, located on Penn Ave in Garfield, has garnered a reputation for serving up some of the most innovative upscale cuisine in the city. If you want to enjoy some of the restaurant’s delightful dishes, but don’t feel like sitting down for a full meal, stop through the restaurant for their happy hour. The drink specials are pretty standard, but the real deal can be found on the food. Spork serves eight different happy hour dishes, each between $6-9. Included on the menu are pizzas, a smoke sausage sandwich, wings, tacos, empanadas, charcuterie and more!

The deal:  $6-9 gourmet bar bites, $2 off wine and beer, $5 sazerac, and a featured weekly cocktail from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday – Friday (bar only)

Drink suggestion: The Tennessee Sazerac with Jack Daniel’s, Peychaud’s Bitters, Absinthe
