With summer and warmer weather finally in sight, Pittsburgh is gearing up for an exciting month! Including Craft Beer Week, Oyster Fest, and plenty of food truck roundup, there are so many food events this April in Pittsburgh!
Saturday, April 1: The Pittsburgh Pancakes & Booze Art Show
Pancakes & Booze, the popular traveling art show, is cruising through Pittsburgh this April. The 21-and-over art show will feature over 50 regional artists an anything-goes warehouse environment. There will be body painting, music and of course, booze. The event runs from 8:00 PM to 1:00 AM. Tickets are are $5 in advance or $10 at the door. More information can be found online.
Sunday, April 2: Cookies 4 Chris
Enjoy a cookie table for a good cause at the 7th annual Cookies 4 Chris event, a memorial event for Pittsburgher Chris Sapienza, who passed away from colon cancer, and loved both cookies and baking. The event will have prizes, vendors, entertainment, and plenty of cookies. Tickets are $40 and support Colon Cancer Alliance. More information can be found online.
Sunday, April 2: 40th Annual Beaver County Maple Syrup Festival
Beaver County is celebrating the 40th anniversary of their annual Maple Syrup Festival with a massive, all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast. There will be two stages of entertainment, mountain men encampments, handmade crafts, pony-rides, stoneground flour and more. The festival is free, and the breakfast is $9 adults and $5 children (12 and under). See more information on the event page.
Friday, April 7: After Hours: Cocktails & Kryptonite
Get great for a super fun time at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh! For their springtime “After Hours event,” the library is going all out with a superhero themed, 21+ bash. There will be cocktails, donuts, music, silent auctions, plenty of crafts and much more! Tickets are $30 General Admission, and $45 VIP. More information can be found online.
Friday, April 7: Spirit TURNS 2
Spirit lounge in Lawrenceville is celebrating their second birthday with a giant party. Enjoy their famous pizza, drinks, live music, and even free tattoos! The event is 21+, and $15 tickets can be purchased at the door. More information can be found online.
Saturday, April 8: Food Truck Roundup Under the Bridge
Steel Valley Avenues will launch their monthly food truck roundups in Homestead this April, under the Homestead Grays Bridge. The event will run from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., is rain or shine, and will feature music, beer and numerous Pittsburgh food trucks, including: Southside BBQ Company Truck, PGH Taco Truck, Bull Dawgs, Franktuary, Sugar & Spice Ice Cream, Old School Italian Sandwich Shop, Mission Mahi, and Foodoo Food Truck. Sunday, April 9: Bach & Brews at East End Brewing
In support of the Bach Choir of Pittsburgh, East End Brewing Company is hosting a lively evening of beer and choir. There will be beer, wine, and PGH Po’boy food truck. Tickets are $35 advance, $40 at the door, and include event admission and two drinks. VIP tickets are available for $75, and include added benefits, like a brewery tour and a growler of beer. Friday, April 14: Keep Pittsburgh Fishy 2017
This annual, secular fish fry benefits local progressive organizations, and this year the event benefits New Voices Pittsburgh – an organization dedicated to the health and well-being of Black women and girls. There will be desserts, raffles, drinks, and classic fish sandwiches (and delicious vegetarian-friendly options). The event is all-ages. Friday, April 14: Paris in Pittsburgh at Wigle Whiskey
Celebration the release of Wigle’s new Pennsylvania Pommeau in style at the Wigle Whiskey distillery. The event will have a pommeau sampling, food from Pittsburgh Crepes Food Truck, cheese pairing with Wheel & Wedge, live music, and French activities. Pommeau is made from apple brandy and press apple cider, and and is around 23% ABV. It is inspired by the apple-laden spirit of France. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased online.
Friday, April 21 and Saturday, April 22: Food + Fashion Truck Roundup
Pittsburgh Earth Day is working to host the most sustainable food truck festival in the country this Earth Day. The two-day event will be powered by solar energy, use compostable serviceware materials, and feature the following Pittsburgh food trucks: BRGR – Pittsburgh, Bull Dawgs, Evil Swine BBQ, Franktuary, Hott Dawgz, Kona Ice Pittsburgh, Mac & Gold Truck, Mobile Chef, Oh My Grill, Pgh Crepes, PGH Halal truck, Pgh Po’boy, The Sandwich Truck, South Side BBQ Company, Stickler’s Ice Pops, Sugar and Spice, Wings & Things, Wood Fired Flatbreads Mobile Pizzeria, and Wok of Life Pgh. Saturday, April 22: Springfest Benefit for 412 Food Rescue
Help raise funds for 412 Food Rescue, a Pittsburgh nonprofit that helps rescue healthy food that would otherwise be thrown away and donates it to those in need, with a family-friendly Earth Day celebration from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. There will be activities, music, drinks, and of course, sustainable food options! Tuesday, April 25: Between Two Fermenters 3
The third installment of Pittsburgh’s food and drink discussion series is being held in honor of Pittsburgh Craft Beer Week. The theme of the discussion is “Collaboration,” and the panelists include Scott Smith of East End Brewing, Al Kominski of Pizza Boy Brewing, Caroline Moore, author of “Punk Rock Entrepreneur,” and Hal B. Wednesday, April 26: Conversations and Cocktails: Artists and Queens at the Frick Art and Historical Center
