Much to the delight of craft beer drinkers, Pittsburgh’s brewery scene is continuing to swell with no signs of slowing down.
From Irwin to Greensburg, Export, Verona, and back again, there is no shortage of places to grab a quality beer. Below we have listed 18 (!) new and coming soon breweries in and around Pittsburgh. Cheers to that!

Breweries Opening in Pittsburgh in 2019:
New Crescent Brewing Co.
Now open in Main Street in Irwin, PA, is New Crescent Brewing Co brewery and taproom. From their five-barrel system, New Crescent offers a small and thoughtful menu of beers with celestial-inspired names. Examples include the Hydra American IPA, Uranis American Stout, and the Titania American IPA. The name pays homage to homage to Crescent Brewing Co. which operated in Irwin from 1903 until 1919.

Grist House expansion
Millvale-favorite Grist House recently announced their grand plans for an expanded production space and taproom. The new location is in Collier, PA, in the former Nike Missile Command Center. The space is 55,000 square feet and will have significant outdoor space and a dedicated area for a barrel-aging program. Click here to watch a virtual tour.

Invisible Man Brewing
This is no mirage – Invisible Man Brewing is working on a public taproom in Downtown Greensburg. Although not much information been announced, rest assured that the brewery will provide Greensburg residents with a fun and comfortable space to enjoy craft beer. Keep an eye on Invisible Man’s social media for updates, as well as upcoming tasting events. Beers include the “Dark Side of The Moon” Blackberry Wit, “Science for Saison” and “Saturday Morning Cartoons” Peanut Butter Milk Stout.

Inner Groove Brewing
One of the many exciting projects currently underway in Verona is Inner Groove Brewing, located on Railroad Avenue (close to Mechanic Coffee Company). Once open, the space will be a brewery and taproom offering a rotating selection of craft beers set to curated vinyl music. “Beers just didn’t taste as good without a vintage tune, and some off-key karaoke. Merging these elements seemed natural,” the brewery says on their website.

Sly Fox Brewing Co
The South Side is getting a new brewery! Located in the renovated and newly rebranded Highline building, the popular Sly Fox Brewing Company is coming to Pittsburgh. The brewery has two locations in Eastern PA, and is finally making the jump to Pittsburgh with this new location. Sly Fox began in 1995, and focuses on “interpretations of classic European and emerging American styles.” The brewery aims to open in the second half of 2019.

Devout Brewing Company
Last December Export welcomed Devout Brewing Company, a craft brewery focussed on the “art and science of craft beer and the local community.” The brewery is open Wednesday – Sunday and offers a menu of exciting beers, such as the Golden Boy Double IPA. The brewery frequently hosts events and food trucks, so keep an eye on their social media for an updated schedule.

Dented Keg Brewing Company
Mark your calandar for May 2019! That’s the expected opening date of Dented Keg Brewing Company, a new brewpub coming to Mars, PA. The space is currently under construction, but will feature a large taproom with ample seating, a “mug club,” and private event room.

412 Brewery
412 Brewery has been an active member of the Pittsburgh brew scene for many years. Recently, the brewing company has been working on pulling together their first official taproom. Located on the Northside of Pittsburgh, the space will serve the 412 Brewery beers you know and love, as well as many new drafts.

Acclamation Brewing
The newly renamed Acclamation Brewing is also working on opening a new space in Verona, PA. On their website, the brewery explains that they serve a “variety of session beers and a few that we call backward compatible which come with a higher ABV.” Updates on the forthcoming space can be found online.

Rogan Brewing Company
Not a ton is known about the upcoming Rogan Brewing Company, save for that they are opening a taproom in Homestead that will have a hockey theme. BrewersofPa.com reports that the space hopes to open in summer 2019.

Sobel’s Obscure Brewery
After searching for a perfect location, Sobel’s Obscure Brewery officially has a home on Clay Avenue in Jeanette. The brewery was founded in 2012, and is now distributed across 34 counties in the state of PA. Sobel’s hopes to have their taproom open for fall 2019. On their website, Sobel’s shares their intentions for their space: “Plans for the brewery and tap room include a lineup of 17 S.O.B. beers and 3 guest taps featuring other local breweries. Six Packs will be available for purchase as well as take-home growlers. Food trucks will be onsite on the weekends.”

Lincoln Avenue Brewery
Coming soon to Lincoln Avenue in Bellevue is the Lincoln Avenue Brewery. This new craft brewery is an impressive feat, considering the neighborhood was “dry” until just 2 years ago. For this space, hundreds volunteer hours have been clocked as the community has come together to transform a dentist office into a new community space featuring both a brewery and a restaurant. Guests can expect a wide variety of ales and lagers, and a food menu featuring locally-sourced products. The brewery is putting the final touches on the space, and hopes to be open soon.
Lincoln Avenue Brewery (538 Lincoln Avenue, Bellevue)
Big Rail Brewing
Head to Grove City, PA, to try Big Rail’s brews. This project began as a homebrew operation in 2013, and then produced beer for the Harmony Inn restaurant for several years. Fast forward to today, and the company is now working on a rustic brewpub, beer garden, and music venue. The space plans to open sometime in 2019.

Acrospire Brewing
Later this year, Acrospire Brewing will open their doors in Glenshaw, PA. This small craft brewery is focused on “traditional brewing methods and ingredients.” They will offer browns, IPAs, belgians, and ambers.

Stonewall Cider House and Meadery
Pittsburgh will soon be home to a new cider house! Stonewall Cider House and Meadery is located on Allegheny River Boulevard in Verona, PA. At the space, guests will be able to purchase hard cider and meads by the glass and bottle. Stonewall aims to open soon, so keep an eye on their social media for updates!

Platform Beer Co.
The beloved Cleveland brewery, Platform Beer Co, is currently construction a 100+ seat brewery and taproom on Penn Avenue in Garfield. The new space will offer a large selection of beers, garage doors, and an opportunity to view the brewing process. Platform hopes to open their new Pittsburgh taproom in the summer of 2019.

CoStar
For the past year, popular Pittsburgh brewery CoStar has been quietly working on a new taproom in Etna. The brewing company has been a fixture in the Pittsburgh beer scene for years, but this will be their first public space. Not a ton of information has been released on the taproom, so keep an eye on their social media for updates.

Cinderlands Beer in The Strip
Cinderland Beer opened a space in Lawrenceville at the end of 2017, which quickly became a staple for craft beer lovers in the city. Well, coming in 2019, Cinderlands has some even bigger plans. The company is currently transforming the former Spaghetti Warehouse building in The Strip District into a massive brewery, restaurant, and expanded production facility.
