Pittsburgh non-profit 412 Food Rescue is teaming up with Millie’s Homemade Ice Cream to launch a series of “food waste” ice creams, using products from food about to go to waste.
The first ice cream in the series is being released today – and with only 100 pints available for purchase, you’re going to want to get one now.
Millie’s Mulberry Reserve is a mulberry jam and lemon ice cream, made with wild mulberries that have been foraged throughout Pittsburgh, and harvested by 412 Food Rescue’s Hidden Harvest volunteers.
Each pint of Millie’s Mulberry Reserve is $10, and can be reserved on the 412 Food Rescue website and picked up at Millie’s ice cream shop in East Liberty.
