There’s nothing better than a farm-fresh strawberry – or a strawberry festival! This month is filled with strawberry festivals in the city and beyond, giving you the opportunity to pick your own berries, and try delicious treats, like strawberry doughnuts, strawberry ice cream and more.

Triple B Farms

Saturday, June 9 – Sunday, June 10, and Saturday, June 16 – Sunday, June 17

Triple B Farms’ Strawberry Festivals are so big, they have to stretch them out over two weekends!  You’ll find events like pick-your-own strawberries, strawberry doughnuts, hayrides, farm animals, farm playground, face painter, new strawberry cake pops and more. Follow their Facebook page for more information.

Shadyside Presbyterian Church Strawberry Festival

Friday, June 8 from 5:30 p.m. to  8:00 p.m.

For the 25th year in a row, Shadyside Presbyterian Church is celebrating the start of summer with a strawberry festival.  All proceeds from Shadyside Presbyterian’s festival will benefit the Sojourner House, an East End residential rehabilitation facility for women and their children. Guests can expect fresh strawberries, ice cream, strawberry shortcake, salads, and baked goods. There will also be children’s activities, like lawn games and face paintings. More information can be found online.

Smicksburg Strawberry Saturday

Saturday, June 9 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The town of Smicksburg, PA (located an hour outside of Pittsburgh), hosts a massive strawberry festival every year. Smicksburg, an Amish town, is known for their homemade goods – from pottery, to quilts and wooden furniture.  The festival is a great opportunity to visit the town and its shops.  In honor of the festival, Smicksburg will be serving strawberry wine, strawberry jam, strawberry ice-cream, and will be selling berry bowls and serving plates.  More information can be found online.

Trax Farm

Saturday, June 9 and Sunday, June 10 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Trax Farms loves strawberries so much that they are hosting a two-day strawberry extravaganza this June! Each day will feature strawberry treats and activities for children, like a bounce house, train ride, and garden crafts. The menu for the event includes strawberry shortcake, strawberry sundae, bowls of strawberries , hand dipped ice cream, strawberry slushies, strawberry milkshake, and chocolate covered strawberries. More information can be found online.

Sorgel Orchards

Thursday, June 14 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The annual Mount Nebo Strawberry Festival is held each year in tandem with a classic car cruise!  Guests of the event will be able to watch the cars go by, while trying loads of strawberries poured over cakes and ice cream.  Typically, there is also a barbeque and flea market.  Get more information on the Mt Nebo Presbyterian Church website.

Sadly, you missed Peters Creek Evangelical Presbyterian Church’s Strawberry Festival We usually have it the first Friday in June, and it was held June 1, 2018. Hopefully, you can add it to next year’s list. Wonderful menu featuring Strawberry Spinach Salad, Cheplic’s famous roast beef, fried chicken, macaroni salad, baked beans and, of course, Strawberry Shortcake a la mode! Feel free to reach out to me next spring for next year’s date: [email protected]
