The 9 Summer Cocktails You Have To Try in Pittsburgh Right Now

Summer cocktails are basically the adult equivalent of a popsicle. They are guaranteed to cool you down… but you’ll definitely have a bit more fun while doing it. We rounded up some of our favorite summer cocktails, currently being served around the city of Pittsburgh.

Channel your inner Dr. Evil and sip on a “Magma” from Mixtape. This refreshing cocktail includes Li Hing Mui, a dried salted plum powder that is popular in China and Hawaii.

Ingredients: Meyers Dark Rum, Faber craft white rum, guava nectar, house ginger lime syrup, lemon, li Hing Mui powder, aquafaba, cardamon bitters, cinnamon, flamed lime wheel

There is a new cocktail at Hidden Harbor, Pittsburgh’s favorite Squirrel Hill tiki bar! In addition to being serve in a conch shell, the “O.M.G.” (Oh My Guava!) is served with a polaroid of you and your friends drinking it.

Ingredients: Virgin Islands rum, lemon, tamarind, fig, guava, orange, and clove

Have you made it to Maggie’s Farm Rum in the Strip yet? If not, the “Cantaloupe Island” (made with -you guessed it- cantaloupe) is the perfect excuse, as this tropical drink won’t be around for too long.

Ingredients: Maggie’s white and spiced rums, lemon, Ango, and a fresh cantaloupe/vanilla syrup

The summer cocktail menu at the Smallman Galley – based off a VHS copy of “The Sandlot” – is receiving attention from more than just Pittsburghers, as it was featured on both Liquor.com and Food & Wine. A highlight of the menu is “the Great Spambino” cocktail, which is getting quite the buzz for its “spam-washed” glass.

Ingredients: A spam-washed Wigle rye whiskey, pineapple juice, a nori tincture, mole bitters

Smallman Galley (54 21st Street)

Spork, located on Penn Avenue in Garfield, is currently whipping up several summer cocktail sure to cool you down. A customer favorite is the “i don’t want no shrub,” which (aside from a great name) features watermelon shrub and cocoa nib.

Ingredients: gin, cocoa nib, jalapeño, watermelon shrub

Think of your favorite red, white, and blue popsicle from your youth… but with a boozy, adult twist. That is exactly what the “Rocket Pop” at Pork & Beans, is. Mixed with whiskey and blueberry moonshine malt liquor, you’re sure to be seeing stars.

Ingredients: White whiskey, Great America blueberry moonshine malt liquor, Cruzan aged rum, citrus, grenadine

What is better than the famous chicken wings at Station in Bloomfield? Washing down the famous chicken wings at Station with a “Clawfoot.” This boozy beverage includes rhubarb shrub and an exoit garnish.

Ingredients: Cognac, lemon, blackberry, rhubarb shrub, ango, orange butters

Venture up Rialto Street to Scratch Food & Beverage so you can sip on one of their new summer cocktails. As simple as it is delicious, the “Shady Pines” is sure to become a summer favorite.

Ingredients: Gin, Moroccan mint tea syrup (from Gryphons Tea in Lawrenceville), lime juice

Ingredients: rum, Campari, mint, lime, watermelon foam
