Where to Pick-Your-Own Strawberries This Year

June 12, 2020 by Emily Catalano Leave a Comment

The COVID-19 pandemic, along with a devastating late frost, has put a damper on this pick-our-own season for strawberries. But, there are still a few farms in and around Pittsburgh that are offering it this year.

Triple B Farms
Monongahela

Triple B Farms in Monongahela’s Pick-Your-Own Strawberry Field are now open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. They’re also offering a special hour (from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.) daily for senior shoppers and customers with special needs. This year, new health and safety requirements are in place, including not bringing old baskets from previous years, six-feet social distancing measures, and no gathering after berries are picked. Baskets are available for $12.50 for prepurchase.

The full list of requirements can be found here.

Simmons Farm
McMurray

Strawberry picking at Simmons Farm began on June 10, and runs Monday and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to noon and 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday from 9:00 a.m. to noon, and on Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Due to parking restrictions, no cars are permitted to drive to the fields, and all guests are required to stop in the market for picking baskets. Prices are $3 per pound, with a two-pound minimum. More information can be found online.

Trax Farms
Finleyville

Finleyville’s Trax Farms is open for strawberry picking daily from 8:00 a.m. to noon, while supplies last. Systems are in place to keep everyone six feet apart, and the farm is asking that guests wear masks. There will also be additional hand sanitizing stations throughout the farm.

Trax Farms will also have to-go strawberry slushies on Saturday, June 13 and Sunday, June 14 for $3.50 each, starting at 11:00 p.m. For more information visit here.
