GoodFoodPittsburgh.com has been reporting on the Ace Hotel’s collaborative dinner series, Sharing Knives, since the series began in January of 2017.
For the events, the Whitfield kitchen “shared knives” with other chefs and food friends in Pittsburgh (and surrounding areas) to serve a collaborative, family-style dinner to guests.
Now in its third year, Bethany Zozula, executive chef of Whitfield, is trading the Sharing Knives series for Sharing Farms – a new, fresher, farm-focused dinner series.
The aim of Sharing Farms is to highlight the independent farmers and foragers that provide bounty for restaurant kitchens across the city of Pittsburgh.
The dinners take place once a month from June-September, with the next dinner taking place on Wednesday, July 31. The July dinner is a 20th birthday celebration for Penn’s Corner Farm Alliance.
To honor Penn’s Corner at the July 31 dinner, guests can shop an open air pop-up Penn’s Corner Farmers Market featuring a variety of vendors from the collective, and Penn’s Corner CSA Subscribers will receive 10% off of their ticket price.Â
Other farm features include: Who Cooks For You Farm, Penn’s Corner Farm Alliance, Jamison Farms Lamb, and Jubilee Hilltop Ranch, Goodness Grows farm, Tiny Seed Farm.
Participating chefs for the series include: Derek Stevens (Union Standard), Kate Romane (Black Radish), Jamilka Borges (Independent Brewing), Kevin Sousa (Superior Motors), Chad Townsend (Millie’s Homemade Ice Cream), Casey Renee (Confections), Csilla Thackery (Legume), Neil Blazin (Driftwood Oven), Nate Hobart (Morcilla), Lily Tran (Soba), Ben Sloan (Alta Via), Ryan Spak (Spak Brothers), Dianne DeStefano (Lorelei), Kate Carne (Or, The Whale), Curtis Gamble (Station), Tony Giamarita (Pizza Taglio), Justin Steel (Bar Marco).
Other dinners will take place on August 28th and September 25th. Tickets are $100 per person and include tax and gratuity. Tickets for all dinners are currently on sale and can be purchased in advance.
