One of Pittsburgh’s most-loved festivals is making a comeback!

After a two-year hiatus, the Pittsburgh Pierogi Festival is set to return on May 17, 2025, with a new location – and lower ticket prices. This year, the event will be returning to its roots, and will be located at the SouthSide Works, the site of the first Pittsburgh Pierogi Festival in 2013.

“I’m excited – we’re going back to the start! I was there. It was BANANAS,” said Lynne
Szarnicki, owner of the Pittsburgh Pierogi Truck and one of many vendors involved since the
first festival. “We sold out of a tent, I didn’t even have a truck yet and I was leaving for vacation
the next day. I brought as many pierogies precooked as I could fit in my minivan. We sold out in
one hour. Let’s do that again!”

Tickets for the event go on sale today, and pre-sale prices are $7 for adults and $4 for children. Food and beverages are pay-as-you-go.

The 2025 Festival, which is presented by Peoples Gas, will feature more than 100 pierogi and pierogi-inspired dishes from a variety of vendors, including the Speckled Egg, Pittsburgh Pierogi Truck, and Pietrzyk Pierogi, which will be traveling in from Detroit for the event. There will also be an expanded Pop-Up Pierogi Marketplace, free activities and contests, live music, and special guest experiences.

“We are thrilled to help revive this celebration of Pittsburgh’s favorite food in a way that is true,
pure Pittsburgh,” said Julia Homa, Peoples Corporate Giving & Community Affairs
Specialist. “For Pittsburgh, the pierogi is not just some regular food or holiday treat here – it’s a delicious demonstration of tradition and community. The Festival, and Peoples involvement in it, is rooted in those values.”

The Pittsburgh Pierogi Festival is also currently accepting vendor applications and inquiries. All
inquiries may be directed to [email protected].
