The Amen to Action event is flipping the focus of Black Friday. Instead of shopping, they want to give back.
Amen to Action is an annual meal-packing event held on the day after Thanksgiving in partnership with Meals of Hope and the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. Thousands of volunteers will meet at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center with the goal to pack well over one million meals for Pittsburgh’s hungry and less fortunate.
The same event last year surpassed the million-meal mark at 1,036,111 meals.
“Going on our third year, we hope to break our record yet again and pack the most meals to date,” said Reid Carpenter, founder of Leadership Foundations Inc. “It means the world to us to be able to impact the lives of so many in just one day.”
Amen to Action was started in 2017 with the aim to bring together families who are celebrating the holidays to pack meals for the hungry.
The Pittsburgh community is invited to register and/or donate to the third annual event taking place on Friday, November 29 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.
