Beloved Pittsburgh scoop shop Antney’s Ice Cream is back open for the season!
The ice creamery, located on Poplar Street in Green Tree, opened on Monday, June 15, and will be open daily from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Co-owner Anthony Ciotti suffered from some health issues last year, which made for an abbreviated 2019 season. And the COVID-19 crisis pushed back the 2020 opening date, which typically would have been in April.
The ice cream at Antney’s is made from scratch, and the shop is know for their dozens of eclectic flavors, like Dark Chocolate Coconut Almond Brownie, Salted Caramel with Candied Bacon, Pizzelle, and Cayman Islands Rum Cake. There are typically 16 flavors on the menu at any given time, and hundreds of flavors that go in and out of rotation.
In a Facebook post, the owners wrote that they’ve spent quarantine developing new flavors, and making changes to some of their current product offerings, including changing the sweetener in sorbet and No-Fat/No Sugar-Added Yogurt to Monk Fruit.
Antney’s also offers Non-Dairy/Vegan treats (made with coconut milk), and all flavors containing nuts now uses almond milk. They’re also experimenting with oat milk treats, too.
Other offerings include shakes, soft ice cream, cone dips, floats, coolers and sundaes.
