Biddle’s Escape Growing Their Own Sandwich Toppings

August 27, 2014 by Emily Catalano Leave a Comment

Biddle’s Escape, the Regent Square coffee shop with terrific lunch options, has been growing their own sandwich toppings this summer, and a big harvest just came in.

They’ve just collected dozens of gorgeous ripe heirloom tomatoes to top their sandwiches and salads.

What’s the secret to their bountiful crop? They use the organic coffee grounds to their in-house composting pile, which is then added to their garden beds, nurturing their tomatoes, basil and other plants.

On the sandwich board this week, topped with fresh-grown tomatoes:

  • Chicken salad
  • Egg salad
  • Grilled cheese
  • Turkey
  • Hummus
