It’s all about the little things in life – like biting into a juicy burger, expertly paired with a craft beer.
Burgh’ers Lawrenceville, the newest location for the popular Pittsburgh burger joint, knows this to be true. Although the space has only been open for a few months, their Pittsburgh-theme burghers – like the “Polish Hill,” Mexican War,” and “Maggie’s Farm” – have already become a huge hit in the city.
Since their opening, the restaurant has offered a wide selection of local, Pennsylvania beers, wines, and spirits to wash down their burgers.
Well, craft beer fans are in for a treat, because Burgh’ers has something special up their sleeve: Their very own house-brewed beer.
The restaurant, which also has a location in Harmony, PA, will debut the brews at their official Grand Opening party tomorrow, September 12. At the party, guests will be able to try all four of their new “house staple” beers.
The restaurant promises that they hold the same standards for their beers as they do with their food. The brewery is in a separate location from their kitchens, and is closer to the Harmony location.
“Having his kitchen and my brewery separate lets us do what we do best, without distraction,” says Burgh’ers brewer Neil Glausier.
He promises that the four core offerings will all go well with the foods Burgh’ers serves.
Their New England style IPA is a “great a way to express hops and add flavor without doing too much palate wrecking,” says Glausier.
There is also the “Hipstertone IPA,” a very fruity, middle-of-the-road IPA with tropical and stonefruit notes.
Burgh’ers “Oat Black Stout,” an oatmeal stout, can be enjoyed with a burger without leaving the patron uncomfortably full. “It has the flavor, but it doesn’t have that weight to it,” says Glausier.
“ESB” is their Extra Strong Bitter amber, produced in the British ESB style. This beer is for someone who doesn’t want a hoppy beer, but still wants flavor.
Although these are the four beers Burgh’ers is releasing for the Grand Opening, the restaurant has many more beers in the work.
“We do rosemary fries and I’m working on a rosemary saison. It won’t be piney, I want it to be a balanced and nuanced rosemary,” says Glausier.
Burgh’ers brewery equipment was second-sourced from Pittsburgh favorite Hitchhiker Brewing, which just opened their second, larger location this weekend.
The Grand Opening Party will be held at Burgh’ers Lawrenceville from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m on September 12. For now, the house-brewed beer will only be released at their Lawrenceville location.
