Now for some good news: Carmi Soul Food has returned to the Northside!
The beloved restaurant, which opened on Western Avenue nearly a decade ago, moved to the South Side in February of 2018. They can now be found on the 1800 block of East Carson Street.
But as of last week, Northsiders no longer need to cross two rivers to get their Carmi fix. The business announced on their Facebook page the opening of a “Carmi Express” location on Federal Street.
The express menu includes favorites like pork ribs, smoked wings, chicken & waffles, shrimp & grits, homemade sides, combos, and daily specials.
Owners Carleen and Michael King originally opened Carmi Soul Food as an expansion of their catering business, Catering Kings. In addition to running the immensely popular restaurant, they continue to offer catering services, with information on their website.
Currently, both Carmi locations are open every day for takeout and delivery. You can order food online for both the South Side and Northside locations.
During the month of April, delivery (approx 5 Miles) is $2.99. Keep and eye on social media for specials (including family meals) and updates. Carmi is open daily, Noon to 7:30 pm.
