Want to learn how to cook some of chef Justin Severino’s best dishes? You now have the chance to do so – in the comfort of your own home.
Severino (Morcilla, Salty Pork Bits) is teaming up with Make-A-Wish Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia to host a ‘Quarantine Kitchen,’ event, with a virtual evening of cooking on Saturday, September 26.
Participants can order a meal kit for two from now through Thursday at 4:00 p.m., which will be picked up at Morcilla in Lawrenceville on Saturday between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. Once home, guests will be invited to view an exclusive video recording of Severino guiding them through the preparation and presentation of the meal.
Each kit costs $125, serves two people, and offers four courses for the at-home cooks to assemble, create and/or plate.
And the menu looks stunning:
- Trio of Salty Pork Bits Salumi to be assembled by participants, including Pate Ciccioli with violet mustard and cornichon, Salty Pork Bits Chorizo with pimento dulce, dates, cabrales cheese and vanilla, and Whipped Lardo on crostini with radish, EVOO and sea salt.
- Basque Romaine Salad with piquillo pepper, garlic croutons and manchego (participants will make vinaigrette and assemble salad).
- Salty Pork Bits Spaghetti Carbonara with peas and pecorino (participants will make this dish).
- Basque Burnt Cheesecake with membrillo (participants will plate the dessert).
Additional options include Gin & Tonic Kits (minus the gin), and Red Sangria to go.
“Since we had our daughter, our thoughts about philanthropy and giving back have changed,” said Severino in a release. “Working with
children has become a priority and we’re honored to work with Make-A-Wish to grant a wish for a local child facing the unimaginable. All kids deserve a carefree childhood and if we can give them that, through a wish, it’s something we want to strive for.”
Meal kits are available for purchase online. And if you’re unable to make the event, you can donate in its honor here.
