Ever since Pittsburgh heard the news that the very popular Cousins Maine Lobster chain was opening their first food truck in Pittsburgh, the city has been eagerly anticipating the arrival of these fresh and buttery crustaceans.
The wait is finally over! The Cousins Maine truck will have its Pittsburgh debut this weekend at the grand opening of the Pittsburgh Food Truck Park.
The truck will be at the food truck park, located in Millvale, on Saturday, April 7 from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Cousins Maine Lobster is based in Los Angeles, but the Pittsburgh truck will be run by local couple Jim and Leslie Matz.
“Jim and Leslie, the local owners, are fantastic people, we are excited to have them in our family,” says Cousins co-founder Sabin Lomac.
Cousins Maine Lobster Trucks are known for their fresh lobster rolls, which come Maine-style (served chilled, with a touch of mayo), and Connecticut-style (served warm, with butter and lemon). Matz says that the menu for the Pittsburgh truck will be the same as other Cousins Maine Lobster Trucks, and include will include lobster-forward dishes like Lobster Quesadillas, Lobster Tacos, Lobster Tots, Shrimp Tacos, Lobster Grilled Cheese, and (Maine staple) Whoopie Pies.
Matz told us in January that once truck is running, it will be on the road five or six days a week, parked at brewerie and festivals.
Another aspect of the business is catering at private events and parties. Guests can order food from the truck for everything from bachelor parties to weddings.
