Duck Donuts, a made-to-order doughnut shop with franchise locations throughout the East Coast, has announced that it will be opening a shop in Pittsburgh.
Franchise owners Andrew and Kate Jarusinsky will be opening Pittsburgh’s first Duck Donuts location at the St. Clair retail center, adjacent to the newly-opened Whole Foods across from the South Hills Village Mall in the South Hills.
Duck Donuts launched in North Carolina in 2006, and now has 33 locations. At each Duck Donuts shop, doughnuts are made in front of guests, hand-dipped in hot icing, and sprinkled with a selection of toppings, from Oreo crumbles and chopped nuts to blackberry syrup and salted caramel.
Each location includes a waiting area with a window into the kitchen, where guests can watch the doughnut-making process as the doughnut machine cooks and carries the doughnuts down the assembly line, where they’re customized with toppings, packaged, and served warm. Duck Donuts also serves coffee, tea, hot chocolate, juice and soda.
When the Pittsburgh location opens in the spring, it will include a retail store, and indoor and outdoor seating. The shop will be open every day from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
It will be the fourth to open in Pennsylvania.
