After a two-year hiatus, Hi-Tide Winter Holiday will return to Pittsburgh this weekend.
The special event, from the folks at Hidden Harbor and HiTide Recordings, a “Surf, Lounge & Exotic Sounds” record label, will feature a Hi-Tide showcase concert on Saturday, FEbruary 18 at THIS IS RED in Munhall, with Hidden Harbor providing the exotic cocktails at three different pop-up bars throughout the space.
Blowfish BBQ will also be on hand to serve their comfort food favorites, and Golden Age Beer Co. will be providing the brews.
The lineup will feature The Hula Girls, along with The Manakooras and The Royal Pacifics. There will also be a vintage vendor market with vinyl records, clothing, mid-century artwork and tiki collectibles.
“A tropical cocktail, a stroll through our vintage vendor market, and dancing to the best surf & exotica acts out there is really a great cure for the winter blues,” adds Hi-Tide Recordings owner Magdalena O’Connell. “It’s been a long 3 years since the first Winter Holiday, and we can’t wait to bring everybody together in their aloha shirts and ski sweaters again – it’s a magical and transportive experience!”
Hidden Harbor will host a pre-party on Friday, February 17 with DJ Hi-Tide plus guest DJ sets by artists performing at the main event. The pre-party is free and reservations are recommended.
On Sunday, February 19, the event winds down with “Tiki Brunch” at Golden Age Beer Co. in Homestead, featuring a live performance by Hawaiian-inspired jazz group Slowey & The Boats from Philadelphia. Executive Chef Jonah Frazier will serve up a three-course tropical brunch, with Hidden Harbor shaking up a menu of brunch-friendly tiki cocktails.
Tickets to the Saturday event are $45, and can be purchased online.
