extraVEGANza Pittsburgh has set the date for the next Saturday Superfood Brunch, a monthly series that serves up a meal that’s completely gluten-free, vegan, soy-free, and free of unprocessed and with no refined sugar.
This month’s brunch is happening on Saturday, November 7 at Schwartz Market and will feature a menu of 14 plant-based food and beverages from chef Mya Zeronis, including raw acai chia falooda, fermented green tea salad, raw Mediterranean pizza, and vegan nog.
The event runs for two to three hours, allowing guests to eat and socialize in a family-style setting.
On the menu:
- Raw pizza with dehydrated flax-oat-buckwheat-sunflower seed crust, sundried tomato basil sauce, garlic cashew ricotta, dehydrated zucchini, eggplant, Swiss chard, and pine nut Parmesan
- Kale-purple cabbage slaw with raw coconut aminos, and avocado lime scallion dressing
- Garbanzo-battered and baked Buffalo cauliflower bites, served with organic cayenne-apple cider sauce, spirulina cashew bleu cheese dip, celery and carrot sticks
- Japanese pumpkin squash soup in ginger coconut cream, topped with English peas
- Euro open-faced sandwich on anti-wheat whole grain-seed bread with roasted eggplant, peppers, lemon avocado spread, fresh tomato, red onion and kale
- Golden sticky rice and potatoes with turmeric, toasted sesame oil and fried onions
- Pan-fried black lentil fritters with mint tamarind chili dip
- Fermented green tea salad with raw sunflower seeds, raw hemp hearts, raw sesame seeds, cabbage, tomato, lime juice, and cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil
- Acai chia falooda with raw kelp noodles, dried jackfruit crumbs, crushed banana chips, crushed raw pecans, dried coconuts and mixed berries
- Raw cacao walnut brownies, sweetened with dates and raisins
The brunch is reservation-only, and guests must pay in advance. Reserve by 6:00 p.m. on October 29, and tickets are $25 each, and $40 before November 6.
