It’s definitely the most fun Tuesday night of the year, and bars and restaurants throughout Pittsburgh have big plans for Fat Tuesday tomorrow.
Tender Bar + Kitchen: They’re throwing a southern-style bash with Dixieland music with the Boilermaker Jazz Band, a special New Orleans-style menu and $6 sazeracs, $7 hurricanes, $9 chartreuse shots.
1947 Tavern: Wigle Whiskey is teaming up with this Shadyside spot to sling Mardi Gras-inspired cocktails all evening, including the Sassafrazerac, with Wigle Sassafras Whiskey, smoked coriander sugar, Peychaud’s Bitters and absinthe, and Porch Punch, with Wigle Monongahela Rye Whiskey, Earl Grey tea, mint tea, lemon, demerara sugar, and orange bitters.
Oh Yeah! Ice Cream & Coffee: Celebrate from now through Wednesday with Prantl’s Bakery King Cake mix-ins to create the most Mardi Gras sundae ever – and, if you find the King Cake baby, you’ll win a gift card.
Penn Brewery: Penn is featuring a special Cajun/Creole menu with their take on New Orleans-style favorites like Chicken & Andouille gumbo and Jambalaya. They’ll also have live jazz music.
Lidia’s Italy: To celebrate, Lidia’s Italy has put together a special $45 four-course prix fixe menu with dishes like Fried Artichoke Hearts with Remoulade sauce, a Muffaletta-inspired bruschetta, and Chicken ‘Saltimbocca.’
Redbeard’s Bar and Grill: They might not be on Bourbon Street, but Redbeard’s is hosting a bourbon tasting event on Fat Tuesday, with four bourbons, plus light appetizers, for $25.
Local Bar + Kitchen: Local is going all in with drink specials, including $4 Southern Comfort hurricanes and $7 Green & Purple Yinzeritas
NOLA on the Square: NOLA was made for Mardi Gras, and this year, they’re going big with food and drink specials (like Cajun fried chicken and smoke catfish cakes), live music, face painting, and lots of beads.
Independent Brewing Company: IBC is featuring a host of specialty cocktails, including the Hurricane Mary for $8, Arnaud’s Cup for $8 and the Absintheri, with Maggie’s Farm rum, absinthe, simple syrup, fresh lime, and orange bitters for $9.
