Did you miss the first ‘Fleet Awakens’ Food Truck Rally at VooDoo Brewery earlier this year? You know, the one with more than a dozen food trucks, live music, and VooDoo brews flowing? Well, VooDoo has just announced that they’re doing it all again on Saturday, May 7.
First things first: This one is going to be a little different. To start, VooDoo is charging a $5 cover to enter the rally, with all proceeds being split evenly between three local charities, Team RWB, Rainbow Kitchen, and The Avenues.
They’re also offering a new ‘early arrival’ system for people who want to avoid the major lines. The first 200 people to arrive will receive a free pair of sunglasses, giving them early access to the rally at 11:45 a.m.
VooDoo Brewing Company principal Jake Voelker was moved to add the charitable component to the event after seeing the massive turnout for their last food truck rally.
“We always tell people that making great beer is what we do, but supporting our community is what we’re all about,” Voelker says. “These are three local charities that do great things, and we’re happy to support them.”
Fifteen food trucks will participate in this rally, including:
- PGH Smokehouse
- VooDoo FooDoo Truck
- Pierogie Truck
- Saucy Mama’s
- Mission Mahi
- The Waffler
- Miss Meatball
- Savoy on Wheels
- Rolling Cones
- Millie’s Homemade Ice Cream
- Sticklers
- Evil Swine
- Second Breakfast
- Proper Pronto
- Rogue BBQ
VooDoo is also adding additional new beer lines, with a full draft menu to be released the week before the event.
The event opens to the public at noon at the Homestead brewery, and will continue all day… until the food runs out. Live music with The Palookas starts at 3:30 p.m., and the event is both kid and dog-friendly.
