There are almost too many good things to eat and drink this weekend in Pittsburgh. Our weekend picks?
We’re loving Pallantia, the Spanish tapas spot in Shadyside that opened this past summer. They’ve just rolled out a new seasonal menu, and are featuring this gorgeous monkfish dish, paired with fried Brussels sprouts, Serrano ham, romesco, and pickled leeks. Heading there this weekend? Pro tip: order the sangria.
Lighten up a little this weekend with Franktuary’s new kale salad, topped with pickled red onions, shaved carrot, and beets.
Pittsburgh Po’Boy has been promising some new menu items, and they did not disappoint. They’ve just introduced this crawfish grilled cheese sandwich, made with Louisiana crawfish, and herb havarti, on grilled sourdough pickle bread. Find it at their stand at the Pittsburgh Public Market in the Strip District – it’s a keeper.
It’s going to be a good weekend for sandwiches in Pittsburgh. The Vandal just introduced a new head cheese one, served on rye bread with pickled chard, radishes and mustard – perfect for when you want to order lunch like the hip adult you always knew you could be.
Ten Penny quietly rolled out a new menu earlier this week, and introduced a bunch of new delicious desserts, including the Ten Penny Candy Bar. This deconstructed gem is made up of chocolate peanut butter, house-made vanilla ice cream, and hazelnut liqueur candied peanuts. So much yum on one plate.
The newly-opened Prairie in East Liberty has been doing some major cocktail taste-testing in their first few opening weeks, and they’ve crafted a list that we adore. This weekend, say hello to the ‘Short Skirt, Long Jacket,’ made with hibiscus and vanilla-infused Boyd and Blaire Potato Vodka, fresh-squeezed lime, house orgeat, orange curacao, cherry bitters and bubbles. Cheers!
